Anonymous(18-24)4 moNo not at all. We are destroying the leadership and military complex of a terrorist nation that commits mass genocide on its own citizens, and beats, enslaves and kills its women. Our actions are completely allowed under the Geneva Convention. Do you not study any history at all? Attacking the U. S. would bring down the world on Iran.

Very sensational, rhetoric and very dramatic and very untrue. The only country that I know that meets your somewhat hyperbolic description of Iran is the US.

4 moI don't think the Iranian government is good but I'm seeing nothing that justifies this war other than Trumps ambitions to force a deal that lines pockets. Iran is simply too far away to threaten the USA nor does it have the ability.
I'd hope when my country is attacked by the USA we'll fight back.115 Reply
u 4 moIt was a situation where we would’ve been nuked if they came up with the nuclear technology. We had to go and make our move to take out their nuclear sites that they’re working on they’re trying to get nuclear technology, and we had to go after them once and for all to seal the deal this time. i’m sorry you’re not reading the right information but you’re across the pond in your little tadpole Pond sometimes the proper information is not available for you, Brits
u 4 moThis debate is heading down the same tunnel that we had three months ago. I’m not gonna stay up all night to see if you sent me another message. You”ve seen all the interviews. you’ve heard all the reports you’ve heard Trump‘s speak. you’re just gonna say that he’s lying and then you’re gonna ask me to show proof. Then I’m gonna tell you did you hear what he said and no matter what you’re just gonna say he’s lying again. Unless we’re opening the documents ourselves together. What do we have to accomplish by continuing this debate? It Is like trying to debate about do UFOs exist. Look at the secret files and you know they’re not available to us to read because we’re not working for the government we are citizens of the government.

@Iron_Man you are right. I heard what Trump said, and I think Trump has a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation and that he is also lying. Even if I take what he says at face value, it still occurs to me that he doesn't understand what's going on. He doesn't understand that he's not just fighting with the Iranians at this point. He's fighting with the international oil market as well. That is a war he will not win.

Iron Man is not a fool by any means but he does seem to have his mind made up regarding this. I think he is probably wrong but I respect his opinion. Anyway. I may very well be wrong myself. I guess when this finally gets sorted out which is hopefully soon we can have another discussion about our differing various views. The nice thing about iron Man, even when I argue with him is that he provides a gracious polite, logical response. I appreciate that.

4 moThat sounds like my question. I would understand if they did. Trump is asking for it. Not just from Iran but 20 other countries. if you live by the sword , you die by the sword. If you attack other , expect to be attacked. Lets hope if it happens , it happens in high MAGA zones.

They want to hurt America so will target tourists spots like Times Square and the Chinese Theater
- 4 mo
@jamesgoldman well, I guess there goes my trip to Times Square and the Chinese Theater near where I live in Los Angeles. Oddly enough, those things have been around for a very long time, along with the Iranians and the difficulties that you think we supposedly have with them. The Iranians seem not to have bothered with Times Square, the Chinese Theatre, or any other tourist spots.
- 4 mo
Larry Silverstein owns the US Bank Tower in LA... famously he leased/owned the twin towers when 9/11 happened... that seems to have legs
- 4 mo
Well honestly, if they do something to the area around the Chinese theater, as long as it doesn't migrate North into the canyons which are actually quite beautiful, I might be a little bit relieved. That area around the Chinese theater has become an absolute scummy Taurus trap and you can't even drive around there. It's a complete eyesore.

4 moI didn't realize there WAS such a thing as legality or morality in war, at least not in practice anyway. Iran is going to do whatever they think is best for Iran.
There's no question THEY feel morally justified to fight the USA to the death, because the USA is the devil to them. Conversely, the USA's military leaders has reportedly been telling their troops the same thing; that they're fighting evil and the USA is ordained by God to destroy them. So whose morality are we talking about here?
As one commenter suggested below, Iran may not go after political, government or financial targets only. They might choose random chaos and fear, attacking public places and seeking large numbers of civilian casualties. They would use civilian fear and unrest to turn them against the government and try to force the US to change course.

Anonymous(18-24)4 moDidn’t they use torpedo drones to attack American ships positioned in their waters?
Yes, absolutely they have a right to defend themselves against American aggression and imperialism.
Think about it from Oct 7 with Hamas attacking Israel (surface level) and think about it from 9/11 with Terrorists attacking America (surface level).
Iran didn’t do anything and was attacked brutally and viciously even their leader was killed so you have to wonder what would your country do to defend itself? Also with the news media pushing this as a war, President Donald J Trump’s Administration treating this as a war, you should expect Iran to fight back, no?
It is common sense. A war is two sides fighting, if it is one side then that’s not a war and if you are getting down and dirty then don’t expect your adversaries to get down in the mud with you.
00 Reply1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Legally, when at war, you can bomb your opponent no problem. There are rules about targets but I don't know if Iran has sophisticated enough targeting for those rules to apply.
Morally I don't like bombs, or any ranged weapons really. It doesn't sit well with me, taking a life without facing the person.10 Reply- 945 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
4 moThat's what a war is. You'd be naive to think you could bomb a country and not expect them to return the favor.
10 Reply All is fair in love and war. I would suggest they do something else though because when you play with fire you are more likely to be burned and the guy with the bigger flaming stiick is likely to strike hardest.

4 moWar is war. One should not expect that an opponent in a war will not retaliate.
10 Replyno, they have funded terrorism against the west, just because its done behind the scenes doesn't mean it didn't happen, usa are just delivering justice in the open

4 moYeah, we declared war on Iran. They are now at war due to no choice of their own. Yeah, the people who attacked you are a legitimate target when that happens. I can't wait for the moronic outrage the day after the next 9/11.
00 Reply 931 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. If you go back to the start if the Iranian and American conflict in the late 70’s
Iran undeniably fired the first shot by severing all ties with the US and declaring a Jihad just. Keep American companies away from oil wells
So they aren’t justified because they picked this fight
But that’s never stopped them before and I doubt it will now03 Reply- 4 mo
The Shah wanted to have a modern country built on the same western values that have held together all the first world nations to this day.
His only mistake was flaunting wealth when poverty was on the rise
Then Ruhollah Khomeini, who was exiled in France, called for a “revolution” that would bring about sharia law.
What he really wanted was the oil rigs and specifically kicking all western companies away from them
So he comes into power, forces women out of schools, and to wear a hijab, replaces all modern concepts with traditional Islamic ones
Closes down all semblance of social life that was deemed frivolous
And once all that done he turned his attention to his neighbors in the middle east to attempt an expansion of the islamic state’s influence
So no, it wasn’t a few things I didn’t like and a 50 year war picked over petty grievances
The regime is a plight on the world and left unchecked it could (and has) inspire similar situations all around the world
It should have been destroyed long ago but the world needs a bad guy and using the Iranian stereotype was a perfect option for a long long time
It’s high time it stopped though
So that maybe in a few decades we can all to visit Iran and have Muslim neighbors in our own communities that are 1000% peaceful and don’t risk being an extremist cell

4 moLegally, No. There has been no formal declaration of war.
Morally, Yes. A country may defend itself by attacking its attackers.

@msc545 This question has nothing to do with an attack of the US. That would be a different question.
But since you asked...
There have been numerous attacks by Iran and the terrorist groups it supports over the past 47 years, starting with taking Americans hostage at the US embassy in Tehran in 1979. Let's not forget the bombing of US military form in Beirut. Iran helped support the 9/11 attacks. I could go on, but hopefully you get the point - 4 mo
I get the points but they're not doing this for no reason at all. The other side of it is that the US has been beating on these people in one way or another from many many years. I think it began in the early 1970s during the gas crisis that occurred then and has been brewing ever since. As far as 911 goes, all of those hijackers were Saudi Arabian which seemed to escape people that actually is a very important point since Saudi Arabia was supposedly a close friend of the US and still is a close friend of the US, mainly because of the amount of oil they control. I'm not sure they are or the friends of ours at all. Are you?

Obviously no one wants them to. But sure, justification is there.00 Reply8.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No they've been trying to kill us for decades.

They fund terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as well as provide resources to Russia and China. If you don't care about the goat fuckers over there then you should at least be grateful that this is crippling the Russian and Chinese economy and their militaristic efforts.
Islam as a whole is responsible for hundreds of thousands of terror attacks since 9/11, including an increasing number of them within the west because we are fine with putting up with their shit for some reason. Yes that includes the Iranian regime because Ayatollah Kameni (spelled it wrong don't care) is a beloved figure among Muslims in general even though literally every typical Iranian will tell you he was a monster.
Anonymous(Under 18)4 moIf they want to be invaded yes.
You speak of legality and morality as though it matters in these things. Iran has been attacking the US for decades whether it be directly or by proxies.

Opinion Owner4 moThere is plenty of evidence. You refuse to accept it and are uneducated on the matter.
Opinion Owner4 moThe evidence is freely available. A basic google search and you will bd able to find how many times iran has attacked America from the current missile attacks to last years missile attacks to supporting alqueda in iraq to the marine barracks bombing in the 80s to the Iran hostage crisis.
If you are ignorant on the subject then you shouldn't be speaking on it.
