If he was saying "We" then he is referring to our country, as in what comes into the United States government. So for example oil producers pay oil and gas royalties to the US government. The royalties are percentage based, so as price goes up so to does revenue. Export tariffs are also percentage based, and America exports millions of gallons of oil a day so as price goes up so to does tariff revenue. Yet another way the US government makes money from rising prices in the oil markets is by releasing oil from the National Petroleum Reserve. It's a strategy of buy low sell high. So if we filled the reserve at $20 something a barrel and we sell it at say $90 a barrel and we are selling millions of barrels in the market, the federal government makes a lot of money. Oil company revenue also goes up leading to more income tax collected for the federal government. So if you have goals of paying down debt, reducing tax burden, or funding programs more revenue from oil does make a lot of money. That said, high oil prices do reduce GDP growth rates.

Why would I have a meltdown over a politician making an honest statement that I can see both sides of. It's a true statement that the US government makes a lot of money from higher oil prices, but economically it stifles GDP growth which is bad for the economy. Both can be true at the same time, thus why I mentioned both at the same time. That's because I'm able to see the truth in the statement and still be critical of the situation. That said I also knew what would be done to alleviate fuel prices before those things were even set in motion and I knew the war with Iran would happen this spring over 8 years ago so it's not like I didn't see it coming. I'm not surprised. I wasn't caught with my pants down like you. I also know it will pass soon enough. So economically it doesn't impact me at all.

In the case of Trump and Hegseth they are working together with one another well, sharing and understanding each other's experience (empathy), complimenting each other (expressing that they are not unique when it comes to receiving special treatment), so on and so forth. They also take time to express congratulations to other members of their administration like Marco Rubio, JD Vance, General Dan "Raizin" Caine, etc. and often enough even put God above them in public. They openly congratulate Israelis in the alliance and recognize their contributions. It seems you are projecting.

That's not what he said, and it's not what the article says. In one case he's talking about gas. In the other case he's talking about oil. They are two different things. Both statements are true.

Gas prices really were dropping when he said that. It's also true that the US makes more money selling oil when oil prices are higher. The US is the forth biggest oil exporter.

"We" is the United States. That should be obvious.
