What does it mean if a guy refers to you as “we” and not “you”?

So my ex-situationship has dropped subtle hints that he has a massive crush on me. We haven’t verbally talked to each other in months but is always around me he’ll either say “wave” or stare. Well this pass Sunday “we bumped into each other” and he asked me “how are we doing?” Instead of how are you doing? He has never refer to me as “we” in public only behind closed doors

Then why would he use “we” and not “you” me personally when I ask that question, I say “you” as I’m it’s just me and you talking.

Really how common? Because never have I ever had someone who genuinely wanted to refer to me as we when there’s only two people speaking to one another unless in a medical environment and then always say how are you?
