What are your thoughts on impoverished societies wasting food for offerings to their "gods"?

I put "gods" in quotations, because they're actually demons, but that's for another post. Though that makes it even worse.

Anyways, the Hindu people in South Asian countries and the Buddhist people in SE Asian countries waste so much food for offerings to their "gods", that could be used to feed the starving people in their countries.

But the one that pissed me most was in London. There is the largest Hindu temple outside of India and they are wasting British food, because they have the luxory of wasting even more than at home. They bake fresh cakes and put fresh fruit, drinks and other stuff for their "gods" that could be used to feed hungry people. Me and my mom were watching a documentary on it and were so angry and disgusted that the British government allows this. And you can say what you want about Islam and the Muslim people, but at least they waste food and feed the poor.

I hate seeing food wasted in general. It pissed me when Mythbusters and Fear Factor wasted food too, but it's even worst when impoverished societies waste it

It looks bad but remember tonnes of food is wasted yearly simply because it doesn't look pretty. Carrots that aren't straight enough, potatoes the wrong shape, etc. These festivals are a drop in the ocean to what's wasted.

My mom always told me she did not understand why a god who created everything would need food offering to him.

And I don't get it either I think ht best you can do for your god is to be a good person

Because they aren't gods, their DEMONS. This Dominican guy on this site explained, Christians believe in them, but believe their demons. I started questioning the logic of monotheism, after visiting Taiwan, but this demon theory makes so much sense actually

they see it a an investment to get blessing from gods. like you buy stock hoping it will grow- in fact most of the time is a waste and value drops that is a waste and much bigger waste than yogurt.

Oh yeah, religious traditions and rituals are quite hard to grasp. I'm also puzzled by people eating wafers thinking it's the body of some god.

Odd but considerate. I see this in China/Chinese culture. It's nice to remember the elders, but wouldn't starve the children for it.
