Do you care what other people think?

Question

As a matter of fact, do you even care what anybody else thinks? If so, who would that be and why? I mean, people write crazy lies in here all the time, and I used to care about what they said and try to correct them and argue with them. It was a waste of my time. At this point, I don't care if you think the earth is shaped like a watermelon with little pink flowers all over it. Think what you want; it doesn't change reality.

I care that people might believe the lies they're telling, and they're usually trying to make the world worse based on them.

What is it with people who think than less than 100% effectiveness is worthless?

Do you know what DARVO means?

Do you know what a Moral Panic is?

Examples:

"We need a voter ID law that will disenfranchise hundreds of thousands, at least for one or two elections, to avoid the dozen fraudulent ballots cast among hundreds of millions."

"You can still catch Covid even if you've been vaccinated."

"Democrats are trying to help illegal immigrants vote."

"An American caught in a terrorist attack thousands of miles away is an attack on America".

"Trump's got a plan".

I care to some extent, but I draw my own conclusions. What I try to do is see their perspective, how they are getting that answer. I like to understand.

But the answer is generally... in my opinion... perspective and emotion. that may not be obtainable by me to gather.

Lol! It's funny you should ask this question tonite since just about an hour ago I was reminded of an answer I gave to another question 3 months ago. So, yes, I do, even when I don't want to. 😳

"I've learned that it's still really easy for me to get caught up in others opinions and feel insecure even online and get all worried that I don't fit in anywhere just like back in high school and I get all stressed out about being a "weird girl" and start to takes things way too serious here instead of just having fun with it all and learning new things about new people from all over the world and then I learned there's this "off button" that makes it all go away."

I think it’s less about caring what people think… and more about who you think is worth listening to.

I honestly don’t care about random noise anymore. But I do value the perspectives of people who are thoughtful, self-aware, and actually trying to understand things.

Not all opinions carry the same weight tho

Certainly depends on the person and where I consider their value to society. As a business owner it's certainly in my best interest to want those who are or will be prospective customers to at least appreciate me (maybe not agree everything I believe in, but realize I am sincere in what I believe) and still like me without being a friend.

I like to hear what people think just so I can see if it's true and if it's true I can change it

That 98% of the time somebody's usually talking out their ass and they don't even know me and those are the people I could care less what they say think or say

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that if anybody wants to judge me at least know me and know me well enough and be honest enough to say the truth so I can care

to some degree, everyone should care about what other people think of them

sure you can ignore someone calling you a "rapist" until the cops come knocking on your door or at the very least you have crazy people trying to dox and kill a "rapist" aka you

other than that, I don't care because people can't challenge me on my beliefs

I care what people think in the sense that I don’t want them thinking untrue things about me. For broader social issues, I’ve given up trying to change any minds.

People think whatever they want to think. Facts have nothing to do with it.

I don't lose sleep over what other people think, but I do care if what they say or do is harmful to society. Like interrupting a religious service just to protest ICE.

Not really. I used to care more but as I get older I could careless. I have no problem walking up to someone and say go f off. My wife don't like my attitude as of last few years. Im 52 now and maybe I'll be single soon.
