Are you scared of thunder?

Not of thunder or lightning itself. As a kid, I was told that you could calculate the proximity of a storm by counting the seconds between lightning and thunder. So I went out in the garden and just stood there. A stupid thing to do of course. There was one loud crack where lightning and thunder were simultaneous. It must have hit very close.

Needless to say it scared the living daylights out of me (pun intended) and I ran back home.

No. Lightning, that comes before the thunder, is scary. Lightning can hurt and kill. Thunder can't. When you hear thunder, the lightning has already happened, indicating you are safe from that lightning.

Of course, there could be more lightning coming...

Not now, but when I was a little kid I'd hide under my bed. It was just so loud. Funny thing is these days I really like it, the sound of the rain, thunder, wind roaring, and the flashing. I don't know it just feels exciting and cozy well laying in my bed.

Not scared. Far away thunder is kinda relaxing. It's when it's like right onto of you that I may freak out for 0.25 seconds 😅

Well, but I am afraid of lightning. Lightning is particularly terrifying when you are on a sailboat in the middle of the ocean and there's lightning all around you. The mast on the sailboat is sticking straight up about 100 ft, and it's a major attractor for the lightning. If the lightning hits the mast, you're going to have real trouble.

@lafemmefatale_1 Only when the thunder occurs 1/10 of a millisecond after the lightning flash, meaning the lightning struck close to me or my home. It did strike the 100-foot palm trees 200 meters from my house

Not at all. I like it. I even enjoy watching light shows of lightning in the night sky, although lightning bolts striking the ground nearby are scary.

There was one day it was thundering so hard  I got out of my car and my shadow ran through the front door before I got there  I dont like lightning neither it is so powerful

No. Thunderstorms seem to split and go left or right or both around my town. So rarely is thunder close by and it is exciting when there is.
