Am I a jerk for arguing with my dad about AI and college rules?

My dad is roughly twice my age, and we were having an important private conversation about my future, and he brought up school (college), designs, and AI. He said that in college there are no rules, I can do whatever I want. I tried to tell him that SOME professors don’t allow AI, and he dismissed it as not being true, that all teachers have to allow AI. I told him that some teachers don’t allow it, and I was talking mainly about writing while he was talking about car design. I was also bringing up a Discord chat room where an admin doesn’t allow AI at all.

My dad explained that he is bringing up college and not high school or Discord. He said that I can even eat in class in front of the professor, and I said that some don’t allow it, and he said well most do. Then I told him that a math professor I had (that everyone hated and I also withdrew from) didn’t allow most cuss words.

He quickly dismissed by saying, “You know what, never mind. You’re right,” and left to his bathroom. That’s how the conversation ended.

He asked, “where’d you find that?” while I was talking about professors, and I said that I was reading through Reddit threads and social media regarding students’ frustration with professors’ AI policies. Personally, the last time I went to college was in 2022, so AI wasn’t really big back then.
