Should all fines go to the injured party, and none be imposed if no one is harmed?

Yes. It annoys the shit out of me that so many fines go to the state. It's one thing if the process of procecuting them was unusually expensive... Like maybe if there were a man hunt with helicopters or something. But if someone attacks me, I want the money going to me, not the government 😂
I would say part to the injured and part donated to charity.
The state already has other income to finance the judicial system and law enforcement. They would exist even if no one got fined.
If no one is harmed, there shouldn't be any fines.
You do know that those fines are used to help support the court system right! It does help us all in that respect.

If the implication that it’s only a crime if someone is harmed then we have a lot of people in jail that don’t deserve to be there
Sometimes breaking a written law doesn’t result in damages to anyone.
Yet we still get punished for it because it’s how we try our best to prevent future crimes
Like speeding.
You get a fine even if you don’t crash into someone.
That way you might be discouraged to speed and so avoid an accident later on.
No and no. In criminal cases I think the state imposes the fine as punishment and the money goes to the state. If no one is harmed it does not mean that the offender does not deserve to be fined.
If someone is harmed the victim can liquidate damages in a civil case. I do think that liquidating of damages should be faster and more straight forward.
No. Take dangerous driving. Maybe no one gets hurt and insurance covers damage. You still want to discourage the driver doing it again and it is a cost to everyone through insurance.
If there are no fines, the injured party needs to be made whole of their legal expenses.
Depends on the situation. Some people can have other damages or emotional injury
1: I'm leaning towards no, but I'm open for discussion. 2: No.
No, fines are administrative, not compensatory. Damages for injury should be paid, but directly to the injured party
Certain fines have to go to other parties as part of funding. Restitution
Nope it should be exactly the way it is cause its not always about people. Sometimes people don't get injured but there is still property damage
Dismissed.
