What do you think of the term “woke”?

In the Black community, "woke" refers to being socially and politically conscious of the issues people face in the community. Of course, after right-wing conservatives hijacked the term, which they have a long history of doing, it became a synonym for "political correctness," referring to using language and behavior intended to avoid marginalizing or offending groups based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or ability. More often than not, it is used to attack the left. As for my opinion on the term, in the context as used in the Black community, I support it wholeheartedly.

However, in the context that conservative thieves use it, I believe it is another baseless term that people use to demonize certain actions and ideas by giving them a negative label ("woke") instead of actually criticizing and/or addressing such actions and ideals with facts. For example, if I posted that the best way to address high crime rates in the Black community is to tackle systemic racism, a conservative might attempt to counter my argument by calling it "woke" instead of debunking my claims with factual data. My response is always, "Don't prove me 'woke;' prove me wrong."

I find it ironic that a term that means “awakened” or just an awareness of issues in society, is used as a demeaning insult

It's a stupid term, to begin with. It SHOULD be either, "awake" or, "woken".
Secondly, it was stolen by the people that actually hated those of us that were "woke". 'Woke" originally referred to people that actually saw what was really going on around us, as in: the "hidden" symbolism of the illuminazis, all of those that were regular members of the owl worshipping ceremonies, the "hidden" symbolism of the free masons, etc.. Then the blind lefties stole it and claimed THEY were "woke"!! In reality, they're more WILLFULLY asleep than anyone else!!

I never liked it. Thr liberals thought it up to suggest tht they are somehow enlightened because they are crazy. It sort of reminds me of the 70s when kids that used acid and other drugs thought they were enlightened when really they were just inflicting brain damage on themselves.
