That's probably the "best" definition of it. Unless someone is using it in the context of the past tense of "wake," I loathe, detest, and despise the word. It's come to mean "anything someone doesn't like or approve of." People are free to use it as they see fit, but I'm also free to wish a pox on them, that they grow warts on their genitals, that the graves of their ancestors vanish in the Spring floods, and that their taxes quadruple.

Thanks. I was only thinking of the political meaning of the word, and this is the definition used by DeSantis' lawyers in court, defending Florida's Stop WOKE Act.

I'd say diversity quotas are a reasonable remedy to things like legacy preferences in colleges (where students benefit from being children of alumni) and predictable biases in hiring, both of which tend to keep the racial make up of institutions intact.
