I think it's true at least of the ones that virtue signal. The ones that feel the need to advertise or proclaim their good deeds. And to show this isn't a partizan question.. You see this all the time in both left wing and right wing individuals. Especially those in charge of charities and churches.. Or in the case of Minnesota, charitable government funded agencies.

Here's the problem. Whether it be on the political stage or just a sleezy internet website, people are still people. And they're ALWAYS looking for that hole in your armor. Now you're either cognizant of that and always trying to protect yourself from what would derail the message you're trying to put forth. Or you do not care and you'll let the chips fall where they may. Now there was no agenda but to redeem mankind in Jesus's message. That's why Jesus's message eventually won out (that and everyone desperately needs God's love). No one else has that pure of a motive. All fall short of the glory of God. I try to keep this thought in mind regardless of who I'm listening to or how great their message may sound. I take them for what they are. Someone who's mortal and flawed. But hopefully trying to do good. And I react has I go. But I'm never surprised when someone ends up being less than what the espoused to be. Nor do I try to punish them for it (unless they did something very heinous). Because as I said. We all fall short of the glory of God.

Advertising one's own virtuousness is a sure fire indication of hypocrisy. Pointing out hypocrisy doesn't mean the pointer is perfect either. You can have flaws of your own and still see flaws and hypocrisy in others. The point is that once you do, correcting one's own should be a priority.

I think this really depends I think some people for sure have a public persona to mask something they do good things to be seen as a good person even if they really aren’t. So you wouldn’t suspect them.
