Depends but generally bullies look for emotional reactions, blocking + ignoring is the treatment they deserve.
This is a little bit different if they don't attack your person (ad hominem) but belittle or gaslight your opinion about a topic (ad absurdum...). In this case it being cynical response that belittles them most effective. However this happens maybe 1 time on 30 bully attempts. The truth is most bullies who attack a person not an idea are fools.

I learned that in sales. Silence is so underrated. It builds tension, makes people think a little longer and if done right kind of puts the framing of whatever going on in your hands.

If someone tries to "call you out" and they frame whatever they're saying in such a way there's no right answer, some eye contact and silence has a way of making everyone wonder what's really going on instead of drawing conclusions on the spot.

It's like when I run into some "political" person that's saying something inflamitory... They're trolling... anything you say isn't going to change hearts and minds... neither is anything they're saying. Leave it be.

Yeah that's why I never understood why the term "online bullying" in the first place. Like I was bullied in my school years in real life. Try to ignore a bully who's gonna slap your face. It's not gonna work. Like what is a bully online gonna do? He has litterally no power as long as you do nothing.
