Super false. If you are living vicariously through others then you have failed in your own life. Be proud of your own goals and accomplishments, stop basing your entire life on what someone else does with theirs. Your children are going to do what you did, succeed at some things and fail at others. It's ok to be proud of them, but it doesn't equate to your own value.
You shouldn't be so mean to yourself like that.
@Ez-Bri-Z_v2 But you aren't living vicariously through others. You're dead, in the scenario. All of the meaning you created within yourself is tears in the rain. You have no intrinsic value at that point.
Then what?
You are living through others even if dead. Your "legacy" shouldn't be the accomplishments of others. It should be what you did in life.
@Ez-Bri-Z_v2 You have kids, right? Why?
I do have 2 kids, yes and not once did I ever put my self worth on their accomplishments. That's just vain.
We had kids because we wanted to share our love with others. We even took in a foster child for a while for the same reason as well as adopting 4 pets. We are proud of what they do and who they are, but I'm not basing my life's accomplishments on what they do.
@Ez-Bri-Z_v2 I'm not criticising. Quite the opposite. I have 2 kids too. I feel their accomplishments affect my sense of self-worth.
Maybe that's a guy thing, or at least a SOME guy thing. I asked my boyfriend the same question and he agreed with me before I even told him my answer.
Im not sure why it helps your sense of self-worth. Like are you a lesser person if they fail? No, of course not. Each person is responsible for what they do in life.
As a parent you want to teach them wrong from right, what you know, but mostly give them love and support. Feel good about accomplishing that, not about their successes. I mean to put it simply, if they score a goal or a touchdown or whatever, are you sitting in the stands yelling "I did that!". No of course not.
Yes, I am a lesser person if they fail. That's the whole job of being a parent. To give them every advantage in life to be able to succeed.
You should give them every advantage, but they could just do what a lot of kids do and that is to do things their own way. Even if you do everything "right", everybody fails at some point.
To say you are a "lesser person" is self destructive and a bit vain I'm sorry to say.
Well we are all a bit vain.
If your goal were to improve the wellbeing of children for their own sake then you would spend the money you spend on child raising on mosquito netting and mass vaccinations in developing countries.
Parenting is inherently a vain choice. In my opinion.
no...
a lot of deadbeat parents out there who have nothing to do with their children
and many of these children became successful on their own and with the influence of others in their lives but not "the man"
and, in contrast... plenty of great parents out there, who did as best as they could, but once their influence is over... and the kids grow up to be nothing good and end up quite badly... because of other circumstances in life
it happens... lol
LOL, you should hang your head in shame for uttering such bullshit.
Plenty of parents raise disappointing children. Trumps kids are fraudsters and grifters, worse than him. The main difference being they will get all that stolen wealth taken from them when he is no longer there to protect them.
Define successful: Is it the bank account ledger? The global fortune? The number of lives you saved? How much do you give away to help people in need? How do you make sure no one is in need? ...

was einstein measured by the success of his children? was hitler measured by the success of his children? was mahatma gandhi measured by the success of his children? i guess you nkow what i'm getting at. obviously there's different measures of success other than how their children are doing.
I agree biological legacy is a big part of success.
But Trump's children are all dumb shits.
It is not the only measure of success but it does mean that you did something right.
Opinions aren't true or false. Facts and fallacies are.
ten years! i agree.
False lol. They all inherited everything.
Ignorance lol.
Donald Trump inherited his wealth.
Donald Trump’s companies have also gone bankrupt
The only thing he has achieved in life is pretending to be a businessman on The Apprentice. Literally everything else his grubby fat fingers have touched have failed.
@MrChinaski Donald Trump used to claim the Emmy’s was rigged because his show the Apprentice never won an Emmy.
False
