It is part of the Westminster tradition. Centuries ago the English gave their parliaments names e. g. Long parliament, Short parliament and Rump parliament

Now we continue that trad by giving PM's disparaging sobriquets. In Australia Kevin Rudd became Rudd the Dud, Julia Gillard became the Witch (so we could chant Ditch the Witch). Some of us are calling the current one Soft Cock for the way he bent over for Xi.
