Light and darkness are not inherent qualities of men or women. Both men and women can express kindness, aggression, creativity, destructiveness, warmth, coldness, etc. Those traits come from personality, culture, experience, and individual psychology, not gender. Both men and women contain both “sides,” and healthy relationships (and societies) come from integrating them rather than assigning them to genders.

Neither men nor women represent light or darkness. People do, individually and situationally.

But if I had to engage the symbolism philosophically, I’d say many traditions tend to associate:
Light with the masculine---order, logic, structure, outward action.
Darkness with the feminine ---mystery, emotion, intuition, creation, the unknown.

light is often a representation of both life, and birth as well... and that's mostly because of the sun... so this, of course... is more aligned with female traits and characteristics while...

darkness often gets "negative" interpretations but not necessarily all bad... darkness has also represented solace... as in, rest and protection... risk and renewal

Predominantly men achieve recognition for building. Today women get more status for destroying.

Since this is a trick question I should not answer but if I chose it would be...

Men-Dark Women-Light mainly because

I am going to teach you something sad about the male race... Men have a behavioral strategy that is a holdover from the cave days and it looks like conquest. Conquest is the male shadow. It's Im going to behave in whatever way I need to behave to get exactly what I want out of this women=== its not really who I am. Bad news is that it is not impossible but you will need to have discernment , so when you are starving to death for that closeness it is very hard to use discernment. Sitting with the emotions of that absolute desperate starved powerlessness. If you sit in that void long enough then It goes away.

I don't think you can correlate them like that, but if I had to pick then women are the light. They are traditionally nurturers while men traditionally have to deal with the dark more.
