Illegitimate power. Only a small portion of the Lebanese suport Hezbollah but if Israel over reacts it the can become Lebanon vs Israel. There is a good chance of Israel & Lebanon uniting against Hezbollah and I'd guess they want to stop that.

War is just a cost of them doing business.

Maybe they are also betting Iran will be back in business and sponsor them as their proxy army again.

They gain the acceptance of iran which is supporting them on all different levels!
Plus their ideology says that Israel shouldn't exists!
