Give the Persians guns and maybe some intel...
I mean this "striking a deal" with the Ayatollas when the IRGC control the military stuff isn't working. They're not going to just give up to a US friendly regeime change... the Persians will murder them all and they know that. It's basically how that culture works. When a leader falls their whole family has to go on the run or get murdered.
I think we're making the mistake of trying to squeeze them in the way that would hurt us most, not in the way they would deal with each other.
Who's oil, gas and fertiliser profits are up?
Then there's the knock on effects for Iran with many of the countries hit by the crisis looking to secure other suppliers that can guarantee shipments without interruption.
Saudi Arabia and other oil countries in the region are now taking steps to ensure that if iran blocks the straits again there will be no interruption.
Also Iraq & Afghanistan were victories.
What were the goals of attacking Iran and how many of them were achieved? Literally, a superpower has attacked a third world country (that's what the superpower claims), pursuing regime change, total annihilation of the third world country's nuclear and ballistic missile technology, stopping it's influence in the region, cutting off its arms which Hezbollah, Yemen, Iraqi resistance and etc. Now the same superpower after months of starting the war, after assassinating the supreme leader of the third world country, is begging the country to come and succumb to an agreement while the third world country is literally rejecting. Plus, the superpower has created a problem!! The strait of Hormuz.. which wasn't a problem at all before the war started!! How could that be a victory? Isn't that shameful for a superpower? You were negotiating, you stopped negotiations and started a war, now you have come back to negotiate again, not only on the previous issues, but also on an additional issue which is the Strait?
How were Iraq and Afghanistan victories exactly? The US bases in Iraq were literally attacked by the Iraqi resistance. Camp Victory and the US embassy in Baghdad were literally attacked in Iraq!!
What were the goals of attacking Iran? There are likely many, some that were obvious like stopping Iran's 40 years of attacking the US and Israel.
Interputing the supply of oil, gas and fertiliser thus driving the price of it up and forcing the EU and china to buy it at higher cost.
Knocking over the board and setting Iran's development military and infrastructure back 20 years. Iran is not a 3rd world country. Its actually very wealthy.
Attacking the Chinese economy by making the price of energy and fertiliser more expensive.
Test and demonstrate US military technology against Russian & Chinese which results in US arms sales in the trillions. After Russian failure in Ukraine the US arms and oil/gas industry saw massive profits just as US companies see massive profits right now.
In Afghanistan Al queda was wiped off the face of the map and the US gained a base to flank iran. There were strategic intrests in rare earth elements in Afghanistan and potential for an oil/gas pipeline from central asia through Pakistan and india but it was deemed too costly for too little reward and the US was focusing on redeployment for Russia in Europe and China in the south West Pacific a long with reorganising and retraining the US military for the next war replacing all or most cold war era equipment and designs. Largely the accountants made that decision.
In Iraq the victory is installing a US friendly government in iraq, gaining access to Iraqi oil/gas, trillions in rebuilding iraq & for security to US companies paid for by selling Iraqi oil to China, justification for us bases in the middle east. US bases in iraq and by in large the middle east have been attacked by iran for 20 year in iraq and 40 years in the middle east. Its nothing new.
Like I say despite what the media tells you there is an over all strategic goal that has little to do with who ever is president, if Biden was president theyd be pursuing the same policy with the Republicans against it the way the democrats are now.

Israel has been begging US presidents to bomb Iran for the last 50 years and Trump was the only president dumb enough to do it. This is basically a stalemate. The US is in no position to continue and Iran gained the Strait of Hormuz and kept their nuclear program. The US would have to go all in and commit decades to regime change and send troupes to maintain stability and they aren't going to do it.
No, th US did not hve one hand tied behind their back like Iran, Afghanistan or Viet Nam. The military has already been decimated and their leadership has been killed. Their bank accounts have been frozen and there is a blockade preventing ships from entering Iranian waters. They can hide but they cannot run.
It won’t become Iraq or Afghanistan I would hope. We should bottle them up and destroy their electric power in the center most cities and make people leave for the border but not cross it. We should drop military supplies so the Iranians can rise up. Then just let the country bake in the summer sun while we consider taking out water infrastructure.
Before attacking the Iranian infrastructure, the US and Israel have to think about what to do if Iran retaliates!!
It has been a shit show from the start and Grandpa Trump has no exit plan.
Why would there be an exit plan?
US military industry, us oil companies, US natural gas companies, US fertiliser companies, aluminium companies and others are making huge profits as both china and Europe have to pay through the nose to import from the US.
Do you think the US ever wants the Ukraine war to end so Europe can go back to buying Russian oil& gas rather than more expensive US imports?
I doubt it. Iran was unstable internally before the war. The place was falling apart. Probably the popular movement inside will eventually take over.
the conflict ended. trump has a blockade until they submit. iraq war 2000s had troops in iraq so no. this differs.
Almost everyone says the alleged blockade has failed. Trump, in the first days claimed Iran's oil refineries will get destroyed in just a few days after the blockade starts!! We're 2 months in, and nothing has happened!!
