Why do pro athletes earn hundreds of millions while workers struggle to live?

Is our culture and our entire civilization completely INSANE. We need some sort of law to cap the salary of athletes as being no more than the average Doctor. The average person in the USA can't even pay their bills anymore, but somehow more and more wealth keeps being concentrated in the hands of CIRCUS CLOWNS.

Point of reference. They pay Quarterbacks in the NFL $50 million per year now.
They are paying some people $50 million+ per year to play basketball.
You're lucky if a Carpenter or Plumber averages $50,000 per year in Louisiana, and without them nobody would even have a home live in or business office to work in.

Seriously, I was given BAD ADVICE in High School and even Earlier than that. You should NOT go to college for STEM fields. You should go to college to play sports and to get a Kinesiology degree. Give yourself a chance to earn a million dollars by kicking a ball around.

The media tells you they are in millions of dollars because that captivates you; keeps you watching.

If they made the same money as you, it wouldn't be near as exciting to watch.

The numbers are fake, mansions are fake, the cars are rented and so is the jewelry.

It takes a quick Google search to see that you can rent out a celebrity mansion or part of it at any time. If they were really making millions of dollars do you think they would be renting out their home? Doesn't make sense

It makes perfect sense. Real Estate is one of the most profitable businesses int he world, especially when you are already rich to begin with. It's why these actors and athletes invest in either another sports team or a real estate firm or they buy out farmland and make their own wine company, etc.

If they do in fact earn hundreds of millions or whatever figure they do earn, it's because they picked a career path just like everyone else. You can thank capitalism for that.

but you said they are 'PROS' that is why. they are skilled. that is why they earn more. they are offered millions because people will buy tickets to come watch the game. you mention carpenter and doctor. nobody buys a ticket to watch a plumber or a surgeon.

As jI mentioned, I beat a pro boxer by boxing rules when I was only a Light Green Belt in Karate. By the time I quit karate 4 years later after failing my sensei's black belt test 6 months in a row, I was in fact like TEN TIMES BETTER of a fighter.

They are nothing special. You people are just deceived and deceived on purpose.

It is based on their elite skills. Very few people can make it to pro sports. Even less can be elite within the pro sports. Those are the top earners.

Plumbing as you used as an example is not an elite skill and there are nearly a million of them. It is simple supply and demand.

No it's not supply and demand. It's freaking brainwashing. Pro sports provides NOTHING of real value to anyone.

I actually wanted to be a pro fighter when I was 20 years old, but my stupid family talked me out of it. I was a sick good fighter at that age and probably could have kicked the tar out of anyone in the UFC of any weight class. I used to be able to beat TWO second degree black belts (one a heavyweight) attacking me simultaneously, and either tap them or beat them both into submission. I'm confident I could make short work of any UFC fighter when I was 20 years old. I SHOULD have done it, since even they get paid millions of dollars per fight in some cases now. That or Pro boxing. i easily beat the only pro boxer I've ever boxed against too.

Even now, when I watch pro fighting, I "break down" both fighters and laugh at how easily I could have beaten them when I was 20 years old.

By the way, I'm an 80% free throw shooter at Basketball and don't need to practice to maintain 80%. I can also hit a baseball 400+ feet. My brother can hit a baseball directly into your glove and call a shot while doing it ON PURPOSE and he can also hit 400+ feet from a fastball pitch.

My family worked for a living, and work was the only option we really understood back then. It wasn't obvious that both of us should have been trained to be pro athletes.

My brother works in the Lumber industry now and makes over $200k per year doing something I won't exactly describe. He used to be a boiler maker and made over $200k per year on that job too. There's only ONE of him, and when they need him, all these chemical plants and factories call HIM to be the Foreman of a job. He's worth more than 200k in my opinion, because the entire real economy of the USA revolves around what he does.

Do you really think the person who saves your LIFE when you are sick or injured i. e. Doctor or Nurse, should be paid 200 times LESS than a guy who's never held a full-time job in his life and who only gets paid to play baseball or basketball?

Ironically, a few minutes ago on television, I saw a sports analyst ask Charles Barkley what he'd be doing today if he was shorter, like 5'10". Charles Barkley looked at the camera and thought about it for maybe 1 second and replied, "I'd be taking orders at a McDonalds."

So you're saying a man who admits he should be paid minimum wage at a McDonalds should have been paid all those millions to play basketball?

Does that make one damn bit of sense? He admitted he had no job skills and would be forced to work for minimum wage at McDonalds.

Oh, I agree. Anyone who can pay $1000 per seat to watch Soccer can also afford to pay higher taxes. It's why our government doesn't work and has a $35 trillion dollars debt.

People don't mind spending money on sporting events or Taylor Swift concerts. Most of rhem probably just do it so they can tell everyone that they want. Paying taxes really does not have the same allure.

Well, someone should pay taxes, or the government in this country is going to collapse. No sane person would buy bonds from the USA government anymore, because they intentionally inflate the dollar to devalue their debts, and they've been doing it since WW2 or so. You will NEVER get back the real value you invest in bonds in the USA bonds market.
