Australia is currently run by a pack of Socialists.

Worst tax? Changes to capital gains discount , vastly larger than max in the US. Socialists and Communists , like the Australian prime minister, what a disgrace.

In Europe they are talking about taxing people's savings. So if you save your money they will tax it. Getting to the stage where it doesn't pay to work, better off being unemployed.
They are also going after farmers in the uk so if a farmer wants to leave the farm to children who worked all their lives on it often for free they will have to sell off the farm or come up with the inheritance tax which is about 40% of the value.

We ( Australia) have exactly the same problem on large land development holdings , the land tax being so severe that a parcel willed to your offspring would have to be sold..
But guess what? Would produce yet another tax on the gain !

home ownership= a house it the biggest purchase that most people make and th equity in somebody's house is often a million dollars or more. The democrats would , love to tax that wealth.

Yes once you have a mortgage or own it theyve got you on the hook for whatever. Met a few people from california that were evicted and made homeless because they couldn't pay the property prices or others that had to move because they couldn't pay the mortgage and thd property prices. One couple had worked all their lives to pay off their little home by the beach and as retirees got crucified with property taxes.

I own my house with no mortgage and my property taxes are my biggest expense and every year it goes up

Exactly. They just see the money sitting there that they can get their hands on. Essentially they are double taxing you on money youve already paid tax on.

Wealth of billion and trillionaires. Inheritance is also good, considering it doesn't affect most families. At least collect on the capital gains on investments.

2nd home is one thing, im talking about the first home. Met so many californians that had to flee to other states because they couldn't afford the property taxes on family homes theyd bought and owned

Yes, I just sold my second house and part of the reason was that the local government shamelessly abuses the summer residents.

@exitseven I rent properties out. Property taxes are ok where I live but say there was some liberal politician like Mandami and he decided to raise Property taxes to pay for new LGBTQ crosswalks or lgbtq transportation that would just be passed on to my tenants.
