Constant regrets over America's history of slavery...

Yet no one talks about the slavery today which dwarfs the slavery of the past.

The numbers are accurate but no idea why Australia is red.

Americans are not very geographically-inclined in the first place, so I’m not surprised about anything going on around the globe that they don’t know about or care about. They’re kinda self absorbed in that regard.

Black Africans invented slavery thousands of years ago and are still practicing it today in many African countries. They sold their fellow blacks into slavery all over the world. America is where slavery came to die. God bless America, where freedom was invented.

The reason Australia is red is because it is part of the Asian Pacific region, which according to the map has a high number of "people enslaved."

Because the numbers are for the Asia Pacific region as a whole. The number for Australia may be zero. The AP region, not so much.

Also, there is literal slavery as in state sanctioned ownership rights granted for human beings. And there is economic slavery where no right of ownership is codified in any law but people are forced into de facto slavery by an economy controlled by a wealthy minority. Recalculate these numbers by region based on economic slavery and you'll find Western industrialized nations no better than Africa, the Middle East, or Asia.
