It might not be a bad idea. If they are democrats and find out the patient is a Republican they might "accidently" overlook a diagnosis of the fatal disease.

Of course not. My politics are separate from my work, and I don't talk about politics with my patients for any reason. Some of them do talk about politics with me, but that's their prerogative.
