Ooh, ooh. A sneaky populist idea. I have a few drops of Cherokee blood and have spent many days on the Eastern Band reservation in North Carolina. I even advised a Tribal Council candidate as to how Irish Machine politics works.

Having been influenced by my "other" people, at Pow Wows and the Annual Cherokee games that invited all tribes to attend, I have come to support the idea of a Bison/Wilflife and Native American "Indian" Corridor in the lowest population density regions of our West.

Some arrangement of it becoming a self governing Territory with all residents retaining their citizenship rights but regulating commercial and agricultural development and getting revenue from tourism, agriculture and mining; maybe like the deal we ultimately will make with Greenland.

This would permit "us" to resume our historic Tribal traditions and cause ecological restoration and re-introduction of More Bison wildlife. USA infrastructure ownership and maintenance of it, such as roads, dams and other facilities would be retained This would not include federal lands, which would fall under the jurisdiction of the Corridor Territory.

I did not post this to stir up a skirmish, but just to deliver an idea that would be good for the country. I have already sent this to The Whitehouse dot gov., but I am not all about MAGA... or am I?

Sounds okay by me. Restore the natural habitat and let Native Americans manage it. Recognize all tribes.
But low population density doesn't mean that there aren't towns, ranches and farms. Those would have to be accommodated. At least they wouldn't be raided by angry Indians like in the 19th century..

I worked with the local Indian tribe here in trying unsuccessfully to help them gain federal recognition. The tribal president honored me as a tribal elder.

You'd have to run it through public lands, and get permission from private property owners.

But as long as you do it the right way, I don't have a problem with it.

Yes, enough. There lives are shitty on the res. Yes, there would have to give up their iPhones and their vodka. But I think many would want to give it a try.

Besides, there will not be the only souls involved this were involved. bison cougars elks wolves and even jaguars. And others I can't even name. The plains might even suit cheetahs. They already have them in texas. On a preserve.

It could involve a lot of federal lands and also the purchase of unproductive ranches. If you take and look at YouTube. They have already done it with bison out west.
