I was reading about it and they were advanced for their time in fields such as engineering and agriculture. However, besides human sacrifice, the Aztecs enslaved the people that they conquered. No thanks for me! How about you?

It’s not as different as you think. The majority of “sacrifices” were conquered foes. Their corpses raised as a warning of Aztec power to potential enemies. Aztecs who went to the altar felt honored to serve their people.
These facts demonstrate that the Aztecs were not so different from the western countries preoccupied with military dominance; particularly the USA.
US military is often regarded as honorable, ESPECIALLY when they die. After the military razes a region, it’s often left in ruin for months or even years before rebuilding. As a reminder to others who might consider joining the fight.
Is it really better that we slaughter millions in the name of capitalism? Might as well be sacrificing them to the gods. It has exactly the same impact on the class of people being sacrificed.
You know that there are viewing stations outside of execution rooms too, right? We get to watch criminals get killed as a reminder that our culture will be protected at all costs. Has execution ended crime? Or are we just as bloodthirsty as the Aztec “savages”? I don’t see a difference.

There is no ancient civilization that I want to live in if it doesn't have plumbing, toilets and showers. London and other areas stank to high heaven with dead horses in the streets and people tossing urine out of piss pots into the gutters. Think of that odor in midsummer! And I'm talking about the 18th-19th centuries!
