Is the U. S. still a democracy?

I am asking because it certainly doesn't seem like it is. Fascists are running the government, and they want to, if not eliminate elections, so that they always win. According to them, when they don't win, that means the election was rigged. It seems to me that, as a democracy and perhaps as a country, the U. S. is essentially finished. Republicans control the Congress and the Justice Department and the Supreme Court and the Presidency. No amount of voting is going to make them let go of that control.

The US was never a democracy. Do you know why? Because the majority doesn't tell the minority how to govern our land! There are "checks and balances", that we elect. Can you tell me if you're fighting for democracy or democratic socialism? Peon this site seem to be confused@
