The Caribbeans are more colorist than racist (most of them are different shades of brown, anyway). The lighter the skin, the higher you stand on the social ladder.

Talked to black emigre Cubans and read that the Cuban rulers (and much of the population) is totally anti-black.
That's not true. At worst case, they're about the same. The USA is an extremely racist place particularly in the south and in conservative strongholds.
