How do you feel about charity?

I just stumbled upon the Live Aid channel on YouTube. It seems like every great musician performed. People watching on TV gave because they were moved.

Do you think we will ever return to a time that regular people care about those of us that are struggling?

I'm not really a big charity advocate, as odd as it sounds.

They're mostly just horrible industrial complexes where their sole purpose is to raise as much money so it can be thrown down a drain on stupid scientists who really can't see the woods from the trees. An example from Google:

"An estimated $1 trillion or more has been spent globally on the "War on Cancer" and the pursuit of a cure over the past several decades"

There are some I do specifically give to, such as Samaritans though.

i only give locally. i care about those that are struggling, so i give locally.

rich musicians who sold lots of songs can risk it. i don't have faith the money will actualy give the hungry kids food.

There a re still a lot pf people that give to charity. They might not want to say anything to anyone. That's what you're supposed to do. I myself help whenever I can, and I think it's a good thing.

I think most of them are scams. The people that run the thing make big salaries. Just to be on the safe side I don't give to any of them.

It's a joke. "Raising money for charity". Being charitable with someone else's money. Yep, very honorable act.

I'm for private charity over government confiscation. However many charities send only a small percentage of money collected to the actual causes.
