He was a football star in high school and college. He earned a law degree at Yale and became a lawyer.
He joined the naval reserve and served on an aircraft carrier in WWII.
He served 12 terms as a congressman in Michigan.
Nixon appointed him vice president after Spiro Agnew resigned.
He became POTUS in 1974 when Nixon resigned over the Watergate scandal.

I know that he was not elected president. He became president after Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned and he was appointed Vice President by Richard Nixon. When Nixon resigned he became president.
When he died , Dick Cheney was one of his pall bearers. When the moved his casket out of the Capitol Rotunda they walked past a large mirror. I might have been the only one to notice but when they walked past that mirror, Dick Cheney had no reflection.

Not much. I know he took over after Nixon resigned. He's the only secretery of state in US history to become president and he recieved quite a bit of backlash for pardoning Nixon
