Who will pay for it to be free?
Too many obese people in the US for a National insurance type scheme to be enacted. Healthcare has to bd paid for by someone and the way any insurance scheme works is that the majority of people dont use it, the more that use it the more expensive it is.
America needs to deal with the obesity crisis as the healthcare system is collapsing under the weight of obesity and obesity related illnesses, as is the welfare system and of course the huge environmental problem of obesity

but as i like to say: the whole fun of personal freedom is we can drink beer until livers rot. smoke cigaret until our lungs are coal. and eat until one person fills the whole park bench. government can't interfere.
so medicare will collapse due to careless people. need more budget but the budget is also for other stuff. schools police agriculture and fighting enemies and even tourism is more important than helping someone who does not help themself but harms their own health.
if insurance tells a smoker 'pay more because you smoke' he will lie he doesn't smoke or stop insurance.
Let fast food companies participate with 30% in obligatory national healthcare insurance every employer has to pay for legal and illegal employees.
I'm pretty sure this would be the biggest outcry in US history, when they have to pay for their crimes against humanity.
So they should add 30% on to food prices?
There have been several initiatives to lower the sugar and fat contents of highly-processed food in America. Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign, anyone remembers? So far they have been met by those freedom-loving 'Murricans with all the strenuous opposition they could muster on their way to the vending machines. 🙄
you can take some from SNAP. that system is wildly abused. a lot of fraud happens and if they'd get on top of that then they would have enough. a lot of NGO's do nothing at all but still siphon money from us. if we gave up giving foreign aid we could have it paid for right there. it's time to prioritize our own people.
No. It will suffer under mismanagement, inefficiency and fraud. Fix that and you will cut 70% I would guess out of the current cost.
GLP-1s will help people lose weight and it is working well now. This will become less expensive as time goes on. More products like it will be developed as well.
Maybe they should 🛑 stop putting so much crap in our food that causes obesity.
The American government is who will make healthcare collapse! Not obese people!
When you choose to eat 4-5 times more than what an adult should consume each day and choose to eat bad food what do you expect.
@Just_Ken
I eat like a bird and I weigh more than I should.
That’s true. I’ve heard of plenty of people that actually lost weight once they moved abroad for some time without changing anything in their routine diet, while in the US it’s hard for many people to lose weight even by good diet and exercise. I’m sure some people really are just careless but it’s not always that and the government has a lot of fault too.
@choco-latte yes choosing better food
maybe food costs going up is a good thing to get people to eat less?
Probably yeah.
Hence the reason we need to eliminate all social safety nets. Safety nets create carelessness.
They'll just pump them full of that Ozempic shit. They'll lose all the weight and the funeral industry will make some money off the rest.
my friend’s daughter called me “Obeast” hahaha
It is definitely a drain on the healthcare system.
Yes, likely by 2040 if not sooner.
