I just think it’s every generation before trying to warn the new generation and of course they don’t listen. When you see a problem do you not try to warn the new generation about that problem ( even if you were warned in your youth but didn’t listen). Of course you do. Each generation makes the same mistakes and gets the same warnings. Each new generation think they are smarter then the generation before them…. Not a new development…. The same as it’s been throughout history and no one listens.

In my youth I did live off of sardines and crackers…. Owned my own business, worked as a printing press machinist (full time) and 2 days a week worked for for the NYTs newspaper so that was 50 hours + 16 hours + nights and weekends worked at my own business. That was in my early 20s into my 30s. It was tough then too. But now I own 3 houses still work 2 jobs because I want to not because I have to. And if I was starting over today… I could do it all over again. The world is different but in many cases it’s better now. In my early days we didn’t have Google or AI that can literally answer any question you might have. I have AI doing design work for me now. If you have the ambition you can do anything today. Or you can sit around and complain how hard you have it and you can’t succeed, and it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy

The economy isn't effed, or if it is, it's substantially better than it was a couple of years ago. I worked for McDonald's twice, the second time in Chicago, just after I arrived there in 1986. The minimum wage in Illinois 40 years ago was $3.35 an hour, but my share of the rent and electric was around $250.00 a month, so probably not all that different than today. Obviously, I had to have at least one roommate back then, before I was able to get better jobs in my primary line of work, sales.

You have so much more than we did back in our day…. Computers, AI and an economy where (thanks to computers) you can sell goods all around the world. I used to do woodworking and make little trinkets… I had to rent a table at craft fair to sell my goods. Now…. Etsy, Facebook, Craigslist…. Etc. if I had to do it today it would be 1000 times easier to sell my goods. Anyone who complains today is just lazy and thinks the world owes them something. Stop being lazy. You want to make money you can. You just want a hand out.
