7. The Crusades were purely unprovoked. (.. help us)

And many many more nonsensical claims. People are generally very historically illiterate.

It is normal for events to be differently. For example, the Settler vs Native conflict used to be perceived as a clash of cultures before the 1960s, now its largely viewed as Imperialism. Both are correct. That is often a reality of how different eras of people view the past. Sometimes, positive outcome are short-lived and after lasting negative impacts. Obviously, figures will see the event differentlym

However, the need to completely rewrite history seems common today. That is different.

As we both know the study of History isn't set in stone. Until recently (I think it happened in the 70s or so) it was believed that first sons didn't go on The Crusades, because they already were inheriting everything. However, when someone looked at the financial side of it, they realized that first sons could afford the price to go while most others couldn't.
