The fact is, Muslims are found in countries all over the world. I am curious to hear your unbiased opinion. Do you hold any prejudices against Muslims? People in Muslim-majority countries respect the beliefs of Christians, Catholics, and followers of many other religions. What is your view on Muslims?
In the US, i couldn’t care less about a person’s religion. As long as they embrace the American way of life and strive to assimilate, who, what, why, where and how they worship is completely irrelevant.
That said, the oppression and even slaughter of Christians by Muslims in Nigeria, Somalia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Iran flies in the face of your assertion that Muslims “respect” other religions in Muslim majority countries.
The problem with Islam is that the fundamentalists and extremists are still in their “crusades” era. Additionally, they still subscribe to the strict oppression of women and children.
Maybe most importantly the majority of peace loving Muslims are more vulnerable than most to the violent wrath of their extremist brethren. Challenging the ideologues qualifies them as apostates, for which the penalty is death.
The US’s failures in Vietnam taught us the challenges of protecting a vulnerable majority from a violent minority when they otherwise seamlessly blend together.
Do we invite Muslim refugees in for their protection, knowing that any number of them might be wolves only portraying themselves as sheep? Not terribly different from our experiences in Vietnam, we have spent decades in a number of middle eastern countries supporting, training and arming Muslims to resist their extremist regimes, to no avail.
Is it ethical to leave them to their oppression and slaughter? We certainly can’t wipe out the authoritarian fundamentalists without casualties to our allies in the region.
It’s much more complicated than most people know and few want to admit.
Personally, i would invite people of all faiths and backgrounds to the US. Again, so long as they enter through the appropriate channels and demonstrate allegiance to our country and ways, as well as efforts to assimilate. The Sneaky Petes who come here and refuse to assimilate, or choose to create conflict, they should be marginalized in the harshest possible ways. Deport disrupters and deadbeats, and execute criminals. Teach these idiot kids what fascism actually looks like so they stop calling everything that they don’t like “fascism”, and clean up our country at the same time. Win-win!

I have zero problem with Muslims, no more so than I have with Christians or Jews. The Muslims I have met have been really cool people. In fact, their culture is more generous than most other Americans.
Americans who don't like Muslims have been brainwashed by our Zionist media.

I have been good friends with Muslim immigrants from Persia, Syria, Afghanistan, Chechnya and Indonesia..

I knew people who visited Turkey in the 1980s and they said it was the favorite of all the countries they had visited. They said the people were warm and friendly.
I know Turkey has amazing history, architecture, antiquity, and landscapes.
i was raised to have really bad ideas about Muslims, but literally the first few days of college, I learned it was a lot of lies I had been told and believed. So many are truly wonderful people. I didn't even know Jesus is one of their prophets. And the way they welcome neighbors and treat guests - it's a model for everyone, right? Sometimes there are people who come from a country where the theocracy rules, but those Muslims I met like that are actually more liberal and secular and still want to be friends despite how wild I am. Or in some cases, maybe because of it. But they approach everything with respect, not at all like some people like to say it is. Now I know the US was not founded as a Christian country and that my parents are bigots and hypocrites. Just like how they are bigoted toward Muslims, they are bigoted toward other groups, especially the Blacks. Come to find out after I came to college that they have some secrets, and enjoy the same things I do, and that their racism is all just a cover for what they do. With all the accusations people make against Muslims, a lot of it is really just a confession.
I think it depends on the cultural background and country more than anything. Muslims from Turkey or the Gulf are nothing like Muslims from Afghanistan for example.
Definitely Muslims from Turkey and most of Central Asia like Kazakhstan are usually civilized. I think Afghanistan (among other countries) has the most backwards society, and it has more to do with cultural influence than religion… because for example Islam doesn’t mandate a woman to cover her face or prohibits them from going to the park which is illegal there.
But the thing is that when foreigners see a society like this which claims to stand behind religious principles, it brands the whole religion as sharing those same beliefs to the outside view. There are good and bad people anywhere in the world, but unfortunately the crazy ones are so loud and that’s the impression that outsiders are sometimes left with.
I think most people generally view Turkey as more open minded though.

I don't hate all of them, but I'm definitely prejudiced against them. It's not cool to come to a country when you're not willing to integrate. Throughout history, that's been known to be an invasion. Praying on the streets and taking up public space doing so? Not cool. Chanting prayers in public? No one wants to hear it, and it's obnoxious. Trying to ban pork from schools? Don't come to the country trying to change the diet. And then there's a high percentage of muslim rapists. Islam is a primitive religion and covers all the women in such a ridiculous way. It's like they are against attraction the way nature intended it. Women also have no rights, and if you leave their religion or speak out against it... well let's just say they won't be as tolerant as the West about it. I don't understand how so many people just let them invade, change policies, and completely change the demographic. First world countries are the only tolerant ones, whereas if you try to do the same stuff in their countries... you're dead.

In a few Muslim countries apostasy is still a capital offense even if it isn't always carried out. Insulting Muhammad is also punished in most Muslim countries, insulting other religious leaders isn't unless Muslims consider them prophets too. There is no law against insulting the Bab in Iran. Many Muslim countries make marriage between non-muslim men and muslim women illegal (not the reverse). Muslims have rioted if Jews want to pray on the Temple Mount.

You were still young when 9/11 happened. The majority of the world rallied behind the US on that day. NATO (for the first and only time) was asked for help under Article 5 and it was freely given, even to invade Afghanistan, whose connection to the attack was tenuous.
What soured world opinion was the invasion of Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11, but that was months later.
The victims' bodies were still warm when Israel started bombing the hell out of civilian populations, targeting hospitals and schools, and in the time since have committed their own war crimes, including breaking their own laws to intentionally shoot unarmed children. For fun.

I don't judge people based on their religion and would treat Muslims the same as anyone else I encounter. Come to think of it, we get hundreds of check ins a weekend. Don't ever remember seeing one or at least one I could identify.
Like any religious group, I avoid devout Muslims like the plague. Muslims who are laid back and able to assimilate local culture are fine. It's the same way I treat Evangelical Christians and Hassidic Jews. What you eat and alcohol is a personal choice about what you put in your body. But if you expect me to throw a party and have Halal food and Kosher food available you're being inflexible. If your wife is socializing in a ghost costume when everyone else is in jeans and sweaters, you're not fitting in. If you can't tolerate a little pop music in the background because Allah or Yahweh, then you're just making everyone else uncomfortable. If I have to plan the event around your Friday/Saturday "holy days" then you're just gonna be ostracized.

Nobody says you have to invite people with dietary requirements (real or religious) to your party, but it's just good manners to make them welcome.
As it happens, I know someone who caters for a scout troop that contains all of the above, and she manages. I think every religion can eat vegan, and she makes an extra but similar meal for the boy who's allergies are serious (no dairy, meat, gluten, maybe even no pulses).
The kids come from a poor community, and they love the treat that is fresh fruit!

I have Muslim friends and business associates. As with everyone I know, I never discus religion or politics.
i don't mind them at all. i've met a handful and they've always been really nice. they are kind of dorky but intelligent. like a typical foreign student if you will. but my experience might not be typical?
I have plenty of prejudices. I don't know many I'm close with and their culture is clearly very different from mine.
But everyone gets a clean slate with me and people seem to hate them so I like them right off the bat.
If Muslims went to non-Muslim countries and minded their own business and behaved peacefully like everyone else, I would have no problem with them. But the fact is, wherever they go, they cause trouble. Every country that has seen large influxes of Muslims has seen an increase in violence, crime and terrorism. That's an indisputable fact.
Right now I am in a country where I think they are viewed negatively by some ignorant ones. Where I am from it is much less negative.
The West went through a centuries-long process of separating country and church. The Islamic world not so much. I think it's difficult to treat people as countrymen to the extent that they don't believe your country should exist.
