Has modern feminism created unfair power over men instead of equality?

Part of why I think about this comes from my own experience of being falsely accused years ago and feeling overwhelmingly powerless while institutions treated the accusation seriously before I had much opportunity to defend myself. When I later expressed anger and frustration about what happened, I was often dismissed as misogynistic, an “incel,” or someone with a victim mentality rather than having the underlying issue addressed.

That experience is only one example, though, and I’m interested in the broader question: has modern feminism actually produced equality between men and women, or has it created areas where women now have an unfair amount of social, institutional, or legal power over men?

Feminism has always been about cherry picking the rights, privileges, freedoms and power for women while leaving all of the responsibilities, accountability and sacrifices to men.
In literally every conceivable aspect of law and “justice”, the courts favor women over men. Not just men, actually, but all males. Not only do female sex predators often get off with little or no punishment, but there have been a few high profile cases in which grown women r*ped little boys and the state let those women sue their underage victims for child support when they got pregnant.
Nobody cares. I guarantee the outrage would spread far and wide if a male r*pist was allowed to sue his child victims for anything, ever. But it’s kool and the gang when a woman does it to little boys.
That’s not “equality”. Feminism has literally NEVER been about equality. From day one it was always about female supremacy. There isn’t a lick of evidence to the contrary.

@Chazmatazz269 The unequal-treatment examples are exactly the kind of thing I think deserves more attention. If a male victim of sexual abuse can nevertheless be subjected to legal obligations arising from that abuse, that raises a serious question about whether the system is applying principles consistently regardless of sex. That kind of concrete double standard is much stronger evidence than simply declaring that every court or every feminist has always favored female supremacy. My argument is that equality should mean the same rights, responsibilities, protections, and standards for both sexes.

There is no question. We’ve known for decades that the courts favor women. The law is NOT applied equally to men and women. If you want a thorough examination of the facts, read “The Myth of Male Power” by Warren Farrell.
Read up on the Tender Years doctrine and how it resulted in millions of men being alienated from their own children. Despite being repeatedly debunked, women still get child custody in over 90% of contested cases. Read up on the “Duluth Model” for domestic violence resolution, and how millions of men are treated as abusers despite being victims. Then pick up Erin Pizzey’s book. Learn how decades ago her experience opening the first ever domestic violence shelter in the UK, she learned that the majority of abusive relationships are mutually abusive and the rare cases of one-sided abuse were typically female abusers. But when she published her findings and announced her intentions to open a shelter for men, she got death threats and her pets were murdered.
I’m not throwing around nonsensical rantings here. I’ve been reading and researching sexism in the west for most of my life.

Pick up any number of feminist authors. Watch every march and every speech you can find. I’ll spoil it for you. At no time in history has any prominent feminist or feminist organization ever argued or fought for women to share men’s responsibilities, accountability and sacrifices. At no time in history has any prominent feminist or feminist organization argued or fought for men to share women’s rights, privileges and freedoms. It doesn’t matter how you dance around it, that is NOT “equality”. That is a supremacy movement in no uncertain terms.
As far as the law is concerned, dig up the stats. Avoid Google and Wikipedia. They are known to be heavily biased. I can spoil that for you too. Women receive more favorable settlements in divorce than men do. Mothers receive custody of their children in over 90% of contested cases.
For every interaction with law enforcement, men are more likely than women to be arrested. For every arrest, men are more likely than women to be held and charged. For every charge, men are more likely than women to go to trial and women are more likely to receive favorable plea deals. For every trial, men are more likely than women to be convicted and for every conviction, men are much more likely to receive harsher sentences and do their full term. While women get lesser sentences for the exact same time and are much more likely to be paroled early. But don’t take my word for it. Look it up.

Look at all the angry leftist feminists who are in their 40s now with no children and no man in their lives. They claim they don’t want a man but if that’s true… why are they so damn angry? They should be happy, they got what they wanted.

@BadApple69 I think the stronger criticism is less about whether individual feminist women marry or have children and more about what modern feminism teaches institutions and society to prioritize. People are free to choose marriage, children, careers, or none of those things. The issue for me is whether a movement claiming equality has created policies and cultural standards that treat men and women differently or dismiss legitimate problems affecting men.

Yes, definitely in my opinion.

I don't believe that women's liberation is based on equality anymore. Because they are doing everything that they have fought for and they still want more. What they really want to do is replace men!

They've been let out of their cages and are flying jets in the military and are pilots for commercial airlines. And the list goes on and on of the things that they are doing with their lives.

But somewhere along the way of becoming empowered, they lost a lot.

Most of them hate men and don't want a family. They've made their lives all about them.

@sage2021 I agree with the broader concern that a movement can begin by seeking equal opportunity and eventually start demanding preferential treatment or applying different standards to men and women. That’s the distinction I’m interested in. Women being able to become pilots, soldiers, executives, etc. is equality of opportunity. My criticism begins when “equality” is used to justify advantages for one sex, disadvantages for the other, or the idea that men’s concerns should simply be dismissed.

I hear you. My news channels in the morning are all women! Why aren't there any men on the news channel anymore? They've been replaced by women. That's not fair.
And the women are dressed like they're trying to get picked up at a bar. Big boobies, wearing a very low cut tight sweater dress. They do that so all the men will watch their news channel. The men can't compete with the women there.

@sage2021 I think we’re focusing on two different kinds of power. I’m not really arguing that women are replacing men in business, television, the military, or other professions. Women having access to those jobs is equal opportunity, and that isn’t what bothers me.

What I’m talking about is the double standards that can leave individual men feeling powerless even when men as a group still hold many important positions. Things like whose accusation is immediately believed, whose grievances receive sympathy, whether criticism of women is quickly labeled misogynistic while comparable criticism of men is accepted, and whether men are allowed to talk about being hurt without being mocked or dismissed.

That distinction is important to me because I’ve personally experienced being falsely accused and feeling like I had very little power to defend myself while other people treated the accusation seriously. Being told that men are CEOs, generals, pastors, or news anchors wouldn’t have given me any more power in that situation.

So my question is less “Are women taking over traditionally male positions?” and more “Have we created certain social and institutional double standards that give women an advantage over men in particular situations?” That’s the imbalance I’m trying to discuss.

A false accusation can absolutely devastate someone, but that still doesn’t prove feminism gave women institutional power over men. Taking an accusation seriously is not the same thing as treating the accused as guilty.
