These are actually the easiest times to live both in terms of the economy and technologically. This generation has the lowest ratio of people in extreme poverty conditions throughout history and the highest ratio of people living with extreme levels of wealth. Any hardships in the past are easily addressed with modern technology, so even someone who is poor nowadays will not have the hardships of someone who was poor back in the day.
The reason people are avoiding marriage nowadays has so many reasons behind it. Firstly, feminism took a wrong turn. I'm all for equal rights, but now that women make the same amount as men, shouldn't that mean they pay the same amount as men? Why should a man have to pay for dates and everything? And there's a concept called hypergamy. Women always tend to date men who either make the same amount or more than they do, while men tend to date women who make the same as them or less than they do. With women making the same as men and often times making more, there are less male options for them unless they decide they're okay dating a guy with less income than themselves.
Secondly, if you want a man to lead, doesn't that mean you should follow?
And then there's the cult of misandrist women who hate on men as a whole for illogical reasons. They'll date one or a few "fuck boys" in their early years because they're attracted to the arrogance (mistaken for confidence), the smooth talk, the nice height and pretty face, and when the guy pumps and dumps, they'll say all men suck and they don't want to date. And this is after sleeping with 20+ guys. Good guys are everywhere and not creeps as girls make them out to be.
It's crazy that women chose the bear over men. How many bears do you cross paths with vs men? Pretty sure there would be a higher ratio of bears that would attack a girl than a man. And yet they don't have enough logic to discern it's less than 0.1% of the population of guys who sexually harass or assault them.
Then there's divorce rates. As much as I want to eventually get married one day, men see logic. Divorce rates are high nowadays. The juice ain't worth the squeeze anymore. You're taking unnecessary risk until laws have been corrected for men.
Nowadays, women in the West especially, are a bunch of entitled, narcissistic, liberal, misandrist freaks with setpum piercings, dye their hair unnatural colours, wear excessive fakeup, do ridiculous sugeries, are on social media broadcasting their lives to everyone for attention, false knights for criminals and illegal immigrants because of their suicidal empathy, on top of all the other things I listed.
Now I know that not all women are like this. I've dated ones who aren't and some in my circle are not, but the vast majority of them seem to be that way and it's exhausting.
Economics are a mechanism and not the cause.ㅤ
What is THAT supposed to mean? Economic reasons doesn't mean just the economy of an area, it also refers to your personal financial situation. That can easily be a particular causal factor, especially in a dual income family where both incomes are needed just to maintain the current level of existence.
Look how many free time most people have and you will know why there is negative population growth. Better economy means more working hours and more working hours means less free time.
To a person I know (my niece), the word 'marriage' turns her off.
"Lots of reasons!" is all she loudly says.

For men its the fact that 50% or more of marraiges end in divorce 85% of the time initiated by wives who end up getting half of everything he worked for, alimony, child support and child custody. Wives do very well in divorce while husbands are left basically broke until their youngest child turns 18.
For women it comes down to multiple factors such as getting a college degree, find a guy usually in college, establish a career, get married before 30 and aged 30-35 have her kids. Great plan but what happens if things dont go according to plan. Then of course most average women won't accept an average man.
And yes there is also economics as most women want that lifestyle they see on friend's Instagram and Facebook of women on holiday, fancy meals, bottomless brunches, clothes, handbags, fancy spa treatments. They aren't willing to sacrifice lifestyle for kids.
Basically for a lot of women time runs out and of course the media has stories about some celebrity women that are having babies in their 40s. The media is full of anti marraige propoganda that justfies women cheating on their partners or encourages them to leave regardless of kids.
Marriage and childbirth rates have been declining for decades. We were at all time lows twenty years ago when the economy wasn’t the issue it is today.
Men and women just don’t like each other anymore. I’m not sure they ever really did. Everyone was like “Can’t live with ‘em. Can’t live without ‘em.” and hooked up anyway. Now everyone is just like “F*ck them!”.
As a man, the absurd marriage, divorce and child custody laws are high at the top of the list of reasons to avoid women. We literally incentivize women to destroy their families. Which is why women initiate divorce more than twice as often as men, but men are the ones whose lives are ruined in the process.
False paternity claims are up there too. The majority of US states have “dad by default” laws. A majority of US states have also criminalized doing a DNA test on a child without the mother’s knowledge and consent. In states where there’s crossover, men whose wives, fiancés or girlfriends cheated on them and still claimed them as the father have no legal recourse. They’re forced by law to support another man’s child. Some states even allow a woman to claim support both from her (former) husband and the child’s biological father.
The entire system is rigged against men and “love” has got absolutely nothing to do with any of it. The only way to win is to refuse to play.
If you have the time, energy and money, you can petition the court for a paternity test. But in the states with “dad by default” laws, it’s highly unlikely to be approved. The point is that as long as there is a man on the hook, the courts don’t care one bit if he’s the biological father. Once the mother decides she wants your resources, you become a financial slave. You are correct. That’s not how a “free” country should operate.
For men it is pretty straight forward. Marriage is quite a reasonable deal - if it is till death us do part.
As it is 50% of marriages have failed at 8 years, 60% by 10 years. It seems to be around 70% by 20 years.
At divorce the husband gets to start over with the additional burden of child support and having very limited access to his children.
So it is clearly about the worst financial decision you can make as a guy. It is also the worst emotional decision you can make to have your children ripped away from.
Had you remain single and are sensible, you would have no child support costs. Men are happy to live more simply than wives and girlfriends. So a lot of costs would have been avoided by not marrying. Plus you can't lose your house to your ex-wife.
It is simply a no-brainer for a guy to not marry.
I hate answering this question; but Humans have lost a major facet for adventure. Marriage and kids are an adventure that you don't control. We are all taught that we should get a good education and a good job, Work hard and your senior years will be easy. Not so. That and the brown halo around a bull ass, have much in common. Testosterone Laden Bovine Defecation. Economic reasons have never stopped humans before. Occasionally, it does slow us down until we realize that we have been lied to.
I believe there are many factors involved, but this is a tempest in a teacup. Statistically, the worldwide birth rate has decreased only 0.33% in the last 3 years. That nothing. In the USA, it's decreased just 0.03% in the last 3 years and is projected to drop only 0.01% in 2026. From a statistical standpoint, this decrease means absolutely nothing in terms of births.
As to marriages, also much ado about nothing if you go back 5-10 years in the USA. If you go back 50 years, that's a different story. There's less than a 1% decline in the USA since 1999, but an overall 21% drop-off since 1975 in the USA. Worldwide, the drop off is much lower in the last 50 years, hovering around 5%.
I think men are doing this mainly for legal reasons. No man wants to have his life ruined by a lying woman making false accusations or by a divorce court Judge. That happens far too often. The best protection against it is not to get married and not to have children.
I second his motion. I've seen women ruin men's lives, and they were at LEAST as much at fault if not more. One of my older cousins got divorced from his first wife, and the court ruled in her favor, and he ended up being a defacto- SLAVE to her for the rest of his life, owing over half of his net income to her for the rest of his life, which is already supposed to be unconstitutional.
Men do not owe a woman one fucking thing. Nada. I don't owe a woman half my income in or outside marriage. I don't even owe you a fucking "Hello".
Actual cost of raising children sure , the massive risks involved in an anti male system , potential lack of future opportunities, and the unstable nature of the world.
I wouldn't like to be in that situation now , we have young Americans coming over here in their 40s , that should not be happening = prime.
People around me ARE having new babies. Especially with inflation down to 3.4 in general in u. s. and for important foods even slower rate. Poultry just 2% inflation even less than 3%. But don't use a. i. when you try to fact check. They warn a. i. "can make mistakes". Lol.
I think a break down in clear rules, boundaries, and expectations between men and women is the main issue. However, of those who do choose to get married and have children, economics likely plays a big role in how many children they decide to have...
What kinds of rules, boundaries and expectations, do you think have broken down? Genuine question.
Economics doesn't mean much for fertility. Scandinavia practically pays for the cost of children and the birth rate there is lower than in the US. A weak jobs market may affect timing by a few years. But people were a lot poorer a century ago and were popping offspring left, right and centre.
It's mainly cultural change, broadly defined.
The other way of thinking about it is that you can spend vastly different amounts and raise perfectly well-adjusted kids either way. 2 kids to a bedroom, hand me down stuff, camping holidays, or private schools, elite colleges, Paris for the weekend. Kids really only need stability, a tiny bit of love and some opportunities to educate themselves.
Socialist countries are all seeing horrible birthrates. Turns out forcing society's actual providers to pay for Pookie and Ray Ray's kids doesn't bode well for society. Even more so, it would appear giving women social safety nets doesn't equate to wet pussies. Almost as if women have children simply for the security it affords them.
2Timothy 3:1-2
There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
For men, yeah. The divorce laws are simply too much of a risk. Especially if he's got his shit in order.
I wish women would learn that men will support a wife when it's a choice. It's in our nature. Force us to, and we out.
Relationships, including with employers, have gotten flimsier and more unreliable.
Yeah money is the big one for me… im a little fearful the kids of today will grow up in a world ravaged by climate change too. there's other reasons but those are the big ones
Im not opposed to marriage though. Just has to be with the right woman. ;)
I do not know, I think social media has more to do with it than economics.
Mostly because if social media poisoning the minds oof women that believe all the bullshit it tells them about men, in general.
The primary reasons women are avoiding marriage and children are feminism and social media.
The primary reason men are avoiding those things is because the risks and costs for today's men far outweigh the benefits.
I see them getting married and having kids. only one I know avoiding it is gay.
So who knows, not me.
Cute little lad, but here in Canada, it costs an estimated $300,000 Canadian to raise a child from birth to 18, and how many kids today leave home at 18? I was 37 when I left the nest, as was our former Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau.
I think it’s partially to blame. I think the major reason is feminism.
No. They are too incompetent to maintain a marriage, and having children does not mean you will be a good parent.
I think insecurity about what is going on in the world (especially the USA), climate issues, job prospects, social media and the the cost of raising kids.
Economical and for sure for some other factors!
Economics is one major factor and the other is the new cultural belief that the family is an oppressive structure for women.
The reason is this narcissistic, nihilistic culture of young people. They're selfish and miserable.
With the advent of social media and dating apps, there just seems like there are more options. Why get burdened with a family when there are seemingly endless other choices?
They are not avoiding marriage
They are avoiding divorce
No it proves she is fertile enough to have them his sperm is good to have them too
