For me it's thinking I must be some kind of pure, soft, or naive guy just because I smile and I'm kind to people. Then when I show them how much of the opposite I can be they get offended.

I’ve had people assume I am physically weak because I am a “nice guy”. But once I am in a fight I’m someone 99% of people don’t want to mess with. Just because I don’t like to fight doesn’t mean I don’t know HOW to fight.
I’ve had shock a few people with that.
They think the same thing about me also. When I was a kid I used to fight back in school, and people got shocked by it.
Liberals think I am a conservative and conservatives think I am liberal because I am not an ideological sheep. I develop my own opinions on individual issues.
For instance, I support women's rights as well as second amendment rights. I never developed TDS. I criticize both parties. I am totally opposed to U. S. aggression and sanctions.
That is me also. I'm neither fully democrat or Republican. In fact I don't get heavily invested in politics. I have thoughts about things going on, but I'm not like a Washington observer or anything.
Politics reduces intelligent beings into name calling , rock throwing , fools.
Many people think I'm originally from the Midwest US, because of my accent.
I'm actually from the Northeast and had a strong local accent growing up, but I've done so much traveling around the world as an adult that I've lost my accent. In fact, there have been a few cases where I have adopted the local accent of wherever I was, and locals think that I am a local like them.
Interesting.
That I am an easy pushover because I am so kind to people.
The other thing that used to happen to me through the years of starting a new job was that the women were jealous of me a lot.
I remember two women said to me, "When I first met you I couldn't stand you. But then I got to know you, and now we're good friends".
One of them was my friend for more than 30 years!
A lot of people seem to think i’m bad. I’m big, i shave my head and i have one very visible tattoo. Maybe above all of that, i don’t smile easily. So i might look like i’m in a bad mood even when i’m not. Resting dick face, if you will.
A few people have been very upfront with me about their preconceived notions, and it always results in a grand conversation! I would honestly rather someone tell me that they were afraid i was going to eat their children than ask me how i feel about the weather.
For the record, i just have a very straight face. Even if i am in a bad mood, you will never know it unless you are the reason for my mood.
The only look that i can’t seem to suppress is my “Are you stoopid?” face. If you do or say something extremely dumb in my presence, i can’t shut that look down. I might not necessarily say anything, but i will definitely have to fix my face.
LOL, all sorts of stuff. I'm an introvert. I generally give people nothing to work with. But I'm also a tall, fit, muscular, well dressed guy. People read me as...
No one ever seems to read me as an introvert who simply doesn't want to engage in meaningless small talk with strangers.
People seem to think I’m terrible or snobby maybe? I’m not super smiley unless I’m talking and laughing. Some people are good at smiling all day, but I’m not and I think people get the wrong impression until we start talking.
I won't lie, women who don't smile or it takes a lot to make them laugh or smile tend to give me the same impression as well. Probably most men. Generally I think it not only necessary implies snobbiness but that she sees smiling and laughing as weakness.
I was born with a smile on my face , a mischievous smile that makes people suspicious. In my senior years people think I am affluent but we are on disability. in my forties, women found it inviting but I never cheated on my spouse. Riding rescue on my youth, I never got to deliver a child, Women would not relax.
I know, but I can’t help it. I tried practicing a fake smile in the mirror, but it was just so unnatural that I couldn’t do that either. I gave up. It just has to come natural.
I think it stemmed from being very shy when I was little. I went from insecure to feeling confident enough to not worry about opinions. I didn’t get a lot of social instruction growing up other that proper etiquette.
I’ve had good friends tell me that they didn’t like me when they first saw me. It’s been that way since I was a child. I’m too old to fix it now.
@TrueConfection Yeah childhood stuff always seems to shape us or traumatize us so much. Lack of social exposure and social savvy is one of those that can make life tough to navigate at times too.
I’m good at socializing and I love people. I’m not good at faking anything though. I’m also very truthful! I never could lie.
They're either scared of me or maybe think I'm a freak or a druggie or a psycho but, I wouldn't harm a fly and would do what I could to help any of those people if they needed it. I'm just about the last person they need to be afraid of and, I have never used drugs or booze. Anyone that's gotten to know me knows I'm a major sweetheart. My fiance says I'm the most wonderful man she's ever met!
Because of my work most people assume i wouldn't be an honest or decent person n won't be able to be truly friendly but thankfully once someone gets to know me their perception completely changes
So I'm not really sure but somehow I think many "workers" are more decent and honest than you're average woman.
Well normally people think girls like me must be horrible at relationships n can't have one n can't be trusted n can't be honest n decent... unfortunately we have to face it all
A rare woman indeed Eliza... the best
@Visrako aww 😘😘😘😘
That I'm unapproachable;
That I'm a snob;
That I'm tall.
That I inherited my wealth;
That I'm forgiving;
That I'm not vindictive or vengeful;
That my standards are too high;
That I'm high maintenance.
If they think you're unapproachable is it because you're acting that way?
Oh, yeah; niceness in a guy is widely viewed as being weak, by most nowadays. I see it all the time. I'll be out, and if you say hello to someone, next thing you know, they're asking you for money.
it used to happen, not so much so anymore though...
many would assume that I was way too serious, not friendly and even arrogant, sometimes because I really wasn't the one to initiate or approach people...
but they got around and close anyway... we ended up being great friends, and for life too, lol
I think it's because I'm bald headed, don't smile much and I give off the vibe of someone that's super dialed in, but a LOT of people assume I'll be uptight and judgmental until they actually talk with me.
People sometimes think I’m too serious or distant, but I’m actually just careful about who I open up to.
That's fair.
That since I’m MAGA white I’m racist despite raising a biracial son that was a product of rape and having a black fiancé
Wow that is definitely a surprise.
That I act the same at work as I do everywhere else, but it is just because I can’t tell customers what I really think
Yoo, this is one I deal with too. The people on my job think they literally know more about me and my personal life than I do. Like they assume some kind of idea about me that is not even correct lol
Some people think I'm quiet because I'm smart, but I'm mostly quiet because I just don't like talking to most people.
Just one thing, lol, many people seem to get most things wrong about me, not just one :P
I'm not sure. A guy I worked with who'd been in prison a long time complained about not being able to read me to someone. I guess he was good at reading People in prison or something. I still don't really know what he was on about.
Imma say what I always say.
Just because I'm dumb, doesn't mean I'm ignorant.
not as dumb people think I am cause of a my dyslexia and I tend to be a quiet person.
Usually what im trying to get across/explain. People keep jumping to the worst conclusions
That I'm a troll 🧌😠
I promise I'm a good man 😆😅
people are afraid of me. I am really nice.
What do you think makes them feel frightened of you?
Except to black folk.
Lately, humanity. As @goaded can attest, I have little. I have to fake it
I am not the most argumentative person on the planet!
They think I'm serious.
If they don't see me, my blackness.
That I am ok
everything
