Could Trump’s attacks on voting actually drive more voters from the GOP?

Trump has done everything he can to keep people from voting in the midterms because he is scared that they are going to vote against the Republican Party, particularly in Congress. I wonder if this is going to make people so mad that they are going to vote against Republicans in response to his behavior. What do you think? At this point, both Trump and the Republican Party are extremely unpopular.

Some independents and centrist R's may be affected. Sadly most people won't even hear about all the stupidity, at least that seems to be the way of things. I honestly believe that if Mr and Mrs Everyman knew about all the things that are provable that he's done they'd never vote for him. But we have our hardcore MAGAts for whom the racism and hatred seem to be a feature rather than a bug... somewhere between 25-30% of voters i'd guess. The last mid-term had a turnout of close to 50% of eligible voters but it seems the MAGAts are often more motivated. I think the highest drivers of anti R sentiment will be affordability and data center policy. The Ranchers are particularly pissed at the moment, and here in Texas Abbott may just face a lynch mob over those data centers, and yet he still polls about even with Hinojosa... it's all a shit show. You would think it would be a no-brainer, but for all those with no brain.

I think at this point we've all heard about it. It is difficult to understand or comprehend any ultimate effects at this point because it seems to be influx. We will see whether or not we actually get ballots by mail before the election. I'm in California so what happens to me may not be what happens to a lot of other people.

True, CA could be considerably different than TX if the ultimate ruling is by state rather than national. I saw a piece by Katy Phang saying that this ruling doesn't actually resolve anything as there is another case through the courts, and this doesn't override that injunction. Ultimately this isn't done.

Katie Phang is also suing DOJ to release the remainder of the Epstein files, explain the redactions they've made and justify them, and translate any that are in foreign language... which they decided on their own weren't worth their time... she's a very good source as is Marc Elias

Thank you. I was aware of Katie's lawsuit and I'm glad she filed it, but I think that no matter what the outcome is, if it's not to the liking of trump, doj will simply ignore the Court's ruling and get away with it. Historically, that has been what has happened and I think it's going to keep happening. I believe that we are long past the point where the rule of law applies to Trump or anything he wants.

Texas gerrymandered their districts expecting that people would still vote the same way they did in the 2024 election. Several predominantly Latin American new districts are going to vote blue, by early reporting. Texas could very well, lose some red seats by their new redistricting. California also redistricted to ensure that, at worst, no red seats will be added, and probably end up adding blue seats, while removing red seats. Unlike Texas, though, Californians voted to have Newsom redistrict the state.

30% of registered Republican voters will vote for Trump, or anyone who is a Republican, no matter what, simply because they've never voted for anything else in their life, and never will. It doesn't matter what they do, who they rape or molest, how much they steal, nothing matters. There's another 30% that are up for grabs, and they typically split within about a 3% to 4% variation, meaning in any given election they'll sway to a 58-42% swing at most.

It's possible that Trump's absolutely madness this time could push those numbers to an 8% swing, which would be huge from a statistical standpoint. From a common sense standpoint, it should already be there and more.

Republican voters seem to have a lot of difficulty with critical thinking or even criticisms in general when it comes to Trump. That may be changing. I certainly hope so.

anyone that needs mail in voting is republican! he's an idiot! out of towners, vacationers have money, farmers aren't showing up so they'll do it and corporations and businesses mail in too lol (or something like that?). so that's almost everyone they've got. the neo-nazi's will be too busy working their cool government jobs. any military support has to be mailed in. i just don't see where he thinks this will help? all of those geriatric republicans have to mail in from the retirement homes. you're done guy.
