If I put myself in their shoes, if I were an Icelandic citizen, I would also oppose people who do not contribute to the economy coming into my country in an uncontrolled way. I think that’s just human nature.

That said, if someone has entered the country legally and within the rules, opposing them purely because of their nationality or ethnicity would be racist, yes.

To be honest, it says they have enough common sense to lock trouble out. No wonder they did not decide to join EU.

Thus, they will eventually fold into USA in time, just give it a war or two and a few missile launches.

It was about fully joining the eu not about migrants, but you know that don't you? Even so the vote was very close so hardly a landslide.

Plus how are these migrants Even going to get there? Europe is just a short hop across the Med, the UK is within swimming distance of France. But Iceland? You're not going to reach that on a rubber dinghy are you?

Australia voted out several Labor gov'ts for allowing mass uncontrolled immigration.

Since then we started interning them on Nauru and no problem no more.

I daresay Iceland has few spare square miles of ice they could knock up an internment camp on where illegal im's can chill out for as long as they like.

If they are "white" then yes, if no, then it's largely ignored.

Island is already highly integrated into the EU, including the Schengen treaty (free movement among all members). They did not want to become a full member to protect their fishing industry.
