Which names should we all use on maps?

In fear of Trump renaming the entire world, Europe has decided to set every place name in stone. That is one name for each place to be used by everyone regardless of their own language.

Obviously, they've decided not to use English because that's too American and no one likes the English in Europe anymore.

So here's six maps, five in the most important European languages and one in the native tongue.

Which one should be the global standard?

The German map

The Spanish map

The French map

The Italian map

The Welsh map

In all logic the original place names should be generally kept, at least for countries having only one official language. Problems occur when, as in my country, where there are 3 official languages (French, Dutch and German), some places have three totally different names... Exemple of names for the same town: Liège, Luik, Lüttich.

Such different names for the same places will in any case never disappear, but nothing prevents from choosing the most common as the official one. In the case I mentioned, I'd stick to "Liège", the more French is there the main language.

Most names in other scripts (Russian, Chinese, Thaï, etc..) can easyly be transliterated in our latin script. But then, what about the same map published in countries as precisely China?

We have the same issue here, town signs are written in both Welsh and English, it often confuses visitors.

So did I guess ;0) Maybe the choice should be the name the easiest to pronounce, and/or the most commonly used? By the way, I checked the map with the names in Welsh, and I must admit that many of them are not that difficult to understand. There is just the often used "w", and names that seem really mysterious: "Y Ffinder" for Finland (Google translates "The Finder"); "Gylad yr lå" for Iceland; "Yr Eidal" for Italy.

Welsh is highly phonetic and the W makes a convenient "oo" sound. Eg Bwlgaria. With "Italia" you get eh-tah-lee-ah in Italian which becomes eh-dal (eidal) in welsh.

No doubt that the "W" in Welsh was inherited from latin, where the "U" did not exist and was written "V". Thus "W" makes sense ;0)

Aren’t we supposed to be one big country, no borders, all love? Something… something… that rhymes because John Lennon said it?
What is the point of naming countries at all if countries are racist? If we are to end racism, we have to eliminate borders and stop using names, for everything. Names are racist. Right?
I’m not sure, but i think everything is racist now, except racism against white people. That is something else. Did John Lennon sing about that?

Italian. It's close to Latin used more than 2000 years long to describe names of countries.

I would say native maps but the character set would need to be the standard Roman alphabet.

Umlauts and random squiggles above words will make typing things out difficult for most people so they must go.

When is England going to rename itself "William the Bastard"? That's a cool name and intimidating. Trump will like it and the for the Royals, it will get a tilted eye for sure.

I personally like the French map, but anything other than the American map will be just fine. I aam Not going to use the name that piece of shit gave to anything.

Well Americans actually speak Amglish not English and as Amglish is the Lingua Franca and it should naturally predominate.
