Their birthplace is wholly irrelevant. No society can survive more takers than givers. Entitlement programs have to be limited to people who have contributed, temporary and short term. Designed to help people get into the workforce and contribute so that we can afford to support a minority of citizens in times of need. Firstly, most of Europe doesn't record "religion" of individuals - only ethnicity.

Lastly "welfare" doesn't mean what it does in the US. Billionaires get welfare - in the US it is called "government contracts".

All "welfare" means is "money from the government". It could be for services to companies, or money paid to pensioners, and lots in between.

Then you have the fact that to live in Europe, you cannot exist solely on welfare. Bank accounts and utilities credit will not work with you, if you're solely on welfare.
