If people are supposed to be so racist against those with darker skin, why do so many white people prefer those with dark tans over those that don't?

The whole issue with skin color sort of baffles me a little bit. I understand the tribal nature of man and the natural tendency to mate with somebody who is similar but I think they make too big a deal about it.

Is there? I see "black" people all the time that are lighter than white people with dark tans. I was watching a short video last night with a girl that looked like she just had a nice tan but she said she was actually black!!
