I get what you mean. I am not sure why. As someone who often feels invisible, I try to give at least a little bit of attention to everyone around me. Especially those who seem to get less of it. It sucks to not feel seen. And it sucks even more to be made too feel like it's a bad thing to feel that way.

It's seen as childish petty and self centered if done for attention's sake. It's never frowned on if you think you have something important to say though. You can seek attention all you want then. People might think what you have to say is stupid but they'll condemn you for your ideas not for seeking attention for them.
