The problem is way deeper than Trump. Our citizens wanting the things he was selling on the campaign trail is the real problem. Trump is just symptomatic of that. With Trump, for me, he’s obviously a buffoon and has terrible intentions and sucks at his job in general.

It’s not that the messenger is flawed; I think that’s what a lot of his supporters think his detractors are mad about. It’s that his voters would stoop to someone as ridiculously, egregiously out of pocket and, frankly, incompetent as him just to get the conservative agenda pushed over the finish line. You could send up Mr. Rogers; I still would reject pretty much everything MAGA is angling for politically.

My enemy isn’t Donald Trump; he’ll be pushing up petunias 10 years from today, likely; my enemy are the Americans who want MAGA conservatism. I’ll have to deal with them for the rest of my life. It takes a special kind of moral bankruptcy to support what they do, and I’ll neither forget nor forgive those people when all this hopefully eventually over.

This one went way beyond political beliefs, and it was a moral litmus test, that should’ve been very easy to pass, yet so many failed. If you had it in your heart to vote for him, at any point, knowing everything we knew, at least tacitly accepting and maybe even willingly endorsing that agenda, and probably laughing it off as over-sensitivity and alarmism…. then I could never, EVER trust you as a fellow countryman or a fellow human being. PERIOD. I just don’t want to know people of that ilk.

Trump’s people run the military now anyway. They forced out the remaining good leadership and kept or promoted loyalists. I voted for the scary lady with the weird laugh, don’t look to me to fix anything. This is MAGA’s mess; all these 2A tough guys with their FAFO bullshit are awfully quiet during the first time we’ve legitimately seen an arguable “tyrannical government”; but maybe they want to sack up and do something now that their farms and ranches and tradesman businesses are about to go tits up, which the rest of us TOLD THEM WOULD HAPPEN, in 2024.

I don’t think a coup is really feasible. Try to survive the next two years of this and we’ll all sleep in the bed MAGA voters made for us, and then revisit use of force if they fuck with the electoral process or attempt to ignore it.

I voted “something else”, for the academics of it all. I’d love to see him removed, but the actual reality of a military coup is drastic, so I think there needs to be more —such as a refusal to leave and/or honor elections, certainly for himself, but also for others at his orders— and not just deep dissatisfaction with his performance or behavior.

All of this should be being controlled by checks and balances right now, but we’re witnessing real-time deliberate dereliction of duty by the entire Republican Party. Congress isn’t even in session til after the midterms now, because they’re trying to avoid Thomas Massie’s too-loud-leading-up-to-an-election crusade to just get the goddamn Epstein Files released in earnest, almost two years in. Like nothing is going on right now with America, these guys are just off in the breeze somewhere, on all of our dimes🙄

But the Republican-controlled bicameral Congress and the almost insurmountably Conservative Supreme Court (made that way via some funny business from Trump, McConnell, etc) aren’t standing up when they should be, especially Congress. The biggest thing I want hammered home as this MAGA thing circles the drain: the right wing DOES NOT just get to divorce themselves from Trump and just scapegoat this entire mess on him. No one should vote Republican for 40 years after this; I’ve just never seen anything so egregious as this. They (politicians AND the voters) can’t be allowed as a political movement to duck accountability for this mess. THEY ALL DID THIS TO US. And when we’re talking about this 3, 5, 10, 20 years in the future, I just will not allow anyone to be like “oh yeah, well, it was a good movement in theory, but Trump just went rogue”, or even more likely “the left was just too much to overcome, but it WOULD’VE been great!” Ab-so-lutely NOT.

Absolutely. I think it's the only ace in the hole the US citizenry has left. The legislature and the courts are completely corrupt at this point. When it comes down to it will the US military start slaughtering civilians in the streets for a demented insane old criminal? Or will they remember their oath to the Constitution, and physically remove these Fascists from power? I'm willing to trust the morality of our military leadership. I've seen what tRump and Vance, and Ted Cruz, and Mikey Johnson are.
