Why are ESL speakers mocked for mistakes but not English natives abroad?

Why is it that when a native English speaker tries to speak a foreign language, people are often understanding and willing to overlook grammatical mistakes, incorrect pronunciation, or awkward wording, as long as they can understand what the person is trying to say, in fact people are happy that you're trying to speak their language

However, when someone who does not speak English as their first language makes a spelling mistake or has bad grammar, why do English speakers (especially Americans) immediately use that mistake to belittle the person, call them dumb, or mock their intelligence?

Some people are just rude assholes and look for reason to bring someone down. I wouldn’t take much offense from someone who speaks only one language and mocks someone for making mistakes in a second or third tho…

They are the types who belittle, mock and bully anyone and everyone they can for any reason they can find. Many of them are on this site.

nobody around me mocks foreigners but we do expect people to know English after EVERY country teaches English in school.
