I think so. It's so hard to know but I love this question. I want to believe we get what we deserve but I have seen good people get so little good in return and bad people get everything.
I think collectively, if we want to and physically can participate into a society we should all feel that we deserve that we want to see as benefitting the majority of people because real suffering to a large degree is preventable. If this were to pan out then why can't we all feel it's appropriate to deserve at least a standard that prevents the suffering of things we can prevent. We won't be able to prevent everything. It's kind of like how can we bridge individual responsibility with collective societal sense of care for each other.
Currently I think we haven't achieved this is because too many think everyone else but them is lazy and undeserving and refuse to say things like, "I might work harder than others but that doesn't mean we should have homeless people or bankrupted over one health event."
I don’t really believe that “you get what you deserve” is always true. Sometimes bad things happen to genuinely good people and I don’t think that means they somehoww deserved it. As for me.. I do believe some of the good things I’ve received happened because of my own hard work and choices but I’ve also had bad things happen that made me wonder “why” and I don’t think I or anyone else necessarily deserved them
However I believe that whatever life gives us happens for some reason even if we can’t understand it in the moment. Maybe I’m just being naive and trying to comfort myself but I like to think that difficult experiences teach us something, redirect us or shape us into who we’re meant to become
To quote Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven",
"Deserves got nothin do do with it. We all have it coming?
Life in this universe on this planet is largely a series a random events we are forced to react to. Oh we can create the illusion of localized control in limited time and space. But it's really all more chaos than order. And we are only one of the random events.
The outside of a bracelet I wear has this inscription...
"The first and most important victory is to conquer yourself" - Sun Tzu, The Art Of War
The inside has this inscription...
"In the midst of chaos there is also opportunity." - Sun Tzu, The Art Of War
Sun Tzu saw it all pretty clearly 2,500 years ago. Not much has changed.
I don't know I don't really think about what I "deserve". I'm just making the best of my life that I can that's all. I don't really think you can apply deserving to a life. We were all just born here do we deserve something just for being born? You have some positives and some negatives in your environment and your childhood etc. Then you just have to try and deal with that and try and improve your life. I think my life has been difficult but also has a lot of positives and the more I'm growing the better things are getting. What I deserve isn't really up to me to decide. I like the more relaxed approach to life, letting things unfold the way it naturally does.
I sincerely hope not 😂
Sure I’ve had some good fortune
But it was always balanced out by something bad happening.
I try not to complain too much but then I end up doing exactly that because otherwise it’s like living in denial
You're not alone... I think complaining is one of those things we all love to do. Lol!
No. I don’t think life is a perfect reward and punishment system..
Some beautiful things have happened to me that I’m incredibly grateful for, and some painful things happened that I don’t believe I “deserved” at all. Our choices definitely have consequences, but so much of life is also timing, circumstance, luck, and the choices other people make unfortunately…
I think what matters more is what we do with what we’re given.
Wow. This is a difficult question. I’ve had some really bad stuff happen to me that I couldn’t imagine what I could’ve done to deserve it but on the other hand I’ve been truly blessed and again can’t imagine why. Maybe it evens out and I’m supposed to learn to be grateful.
No, I haven't done anything bad to deserve all of the bad things that have happened to me during my life, that's for sure!
No. All that I have is more than what I deserve.
I don’t think that’s always true. I know plenty of good people who have had bad things happened to them, and plenty of bad people that have had good things happen to them
i don't believe in "deserving". actions have consequences and good action likely result in positive consequences.
Of course not! The world is in a broken state. Thus the reason for Jesus Christ.
If this was what i deserved id say shoot me!
No as a small child always bullied by an adult male teacher and I did not deserve that at all. Not one f lucking bit
