Why do people still vote Republican given corruption and wars?

All of them have been involved in financial corruption and almost every one of them has started a war at least during the last century. and this one I don't understand why anybody would vote for a Republican. They don't believe in democracy and they don't support it.

Thinking that it's strictly Repubs vs Dems is wonderful distraction, but it misses the crucial point; it's class warfare with certain window dressings. Let me explain.

There are definitely differences in philosophy and governing methods/beliefs between the two parties. You can verify these differences through research and data on any number of metric points. I'm not here to do that, I already know the answers. Everyone has to do that for themselves, if they're willing.

Both sides are corrupt, one currently worse than the other.
Both sides are profiteers; one currently FAR worse than the other.
(Forget the moral turpitude issues on either wing for the moment)

This is where paths diverge, in my view. The simplest example is that one side, the Dems, have traditionally been very content with having a lower class striving to be middle class, and a middle class striving to be upper class. They were more than happy to lean into the "American Dream" idea and make their money while leaving just enough crumbs to keep the masses engaged and happy. They were content to have 85-90% of the wealth under their control.

This has changed significantly over the last 45 years, beginning with the Reagan administration and the onset of new money billionaires and the consolidation of old money billionaires. Under the guise of "political and moral differences", the Republican right-wing simply said " why pretend we want to play that game anymore? Why make believe we give a shit about anyone who isn't wealthy? The system is rife for grifting, so why do we care about " they (we) the People? Us, the rich and powerful, are the ONLY people who matter". They want 100% of the wealth under their control.

So to me, that's been the big difference. Look at general prosperity (if you want to call it that) under Dems versus under Repubs. Look at debt, costs, livability, etc. The numbers don't lie. But that doesn't mean everything was great either under the Dems.

We were still being grifted and manipulated, but the difference was the anesthetic.
As long as you could survive, tuck a little away, and still enjoy yourself enough, why question anything? NOW, you're in the dentist's chair getting drilled, and you're not getting any Novocain, so it REALLY hurts.

@goaded I agree, and under every circumstance, it was still better to live under a Democratic regime. But as you said, they don't know how to counter the Repub bullshit and have allowed them to destroy so much.

Therefore a 'vote' actually does not matter much. It only weighs one corrupted side more than the other corrupted side.

Democrats are the only ones to at least propose legislation to improve people's lives. ACA, and the public option, for example. Republicans create a military force to be used against the population of the US with more funding than most country's militaries.

Yeah we have a terrible problem and we've had it for a very long time. The fact of the matter is that people suffer less when Democrats are in power than One. Republicans are in power. Republicans fuck up the economy and they keep starting wars. Those two factors make life under Republicans a lot worse in general than life under Democrats.

No, we need some adjustments to our system to keep Republicans from being able to keep seizing power and doing things that technically are illegal but actually wind up being legal by default. Better Democrats is not the answer because the philosophy of people who become Democrats suggests passivity in the face of aggression and that is exactly what we're seeing now. If you don't want the passivity then you don't want a Democrat. But if you get the passivity then you get the Republicans running roughshod over everything and everybody. Take your pic.

Instant runoff voting for president, second place getting VP. They represent the country, not the states.

because kids in my time were taught that poor non-white people were democrats. to someone that isn't white to be told that leaves a strong impression. if my generation was taught that, and all of the previous ones were taught that, then what are they being taught today? i really don't know.

I don't vote for Democrats because they support genocide through Abortion and they support the LGBTQ bullshit.

Women are going to keep cheating and getting pregnant and aborting unlighted babies for as long as that option is available to them. There is almost nothing that can be done about it. I too am horrified at the murder of so many unborn children but it doesn't matter who we vote for. This is not going to change.

As for your horror at the existence of people who are homosexual at the rate of 10% of the general population, I have no sympathy. I will tell you point blank just fucking grow up. This is like objecting to people who are born with green eyes as if they had an option. People who are homosexual don't have an option about it because if they actually did, they wouldn't choose to be homosexual because they get harassed like crazy by people like you. Arguably your condition is a lot worse than anything you could blame them for.

In case you're not aware of it, sexual orientation, like just about everything else, is controlled by the brain. The brain is the part of your body inside your skull and behind your eyes that is responsible for your ability to think (assuming you're actually able to do that), as well as what kind of people you'd like to have sex with. It is not a voluntary choice; even if it were, either way, it is NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS what choices people make about who they want to have sex with.
