Why are white people obsessed with fall season?

You have to remember our ancestors were far more tied to the seasons than we are today. Autumn/fall was a time of plenty, the crops were ready, the livestock well fattened, the trees filled with apples, nuts, etc. Winter is on it's way but the weather is still mild enough to do stuff.

So as well as being a time to prepare for winter it's one where you reflect on how successful the year has been. These days we just pop to the shop and buy out of season stuff all year round but autumn is so embedded in our culture as a time of plenty it's hard to shake it off.

What are you basing this notion on? I only know about the case for Poland, and Germany. Here, and there about 15-20% prefer Fall over other seasons (Spring, and Summer wins). And that 1/5 doesn't, which prefers Fall doesn't keep talking about it all the time. No more than other seasons.

Or is it the case for the US, or a different place? Most importantly: What constitutes obsession with a season?

Fall is probably very different here from what India experiences. At least in our northern tier states. Our southern tier states may be more like India. No major changes. In our north, the trees turn bright colors, it gets colder and darker, and eventually we get snow.

If by fall you mean multi-colored leaves falling during autumn, NO people are obsessed with it in my locale, white or otherwise

That's because it doesn't exist as we have highly inflammable evergreen eucalyptus trees only. They drop leaves throughout the year.

So we say autumn not fall since the later doesn't exist.

Thoughts of being closer with family due to it getting darker and more time spent inside. Maybe thoughts of the upcoming back to back holiday events. Seeing relatives you haven't seen maybe all year or even years coming home to celebrate.
