Should robbers and muggers get longer prison terms than thieves?

I believed robbers, and muggers should be in jail a lot longer than thieves because robbers, and muggers usually have guns that can hit you which is assault, or can commit murder. Also, the victim can become a criminal if they get robbed, or mugged.

I would have a hard time believing using a weapon doesn't get longer than simply stealing, but there's always luck involved in this stuff. You might get a good lawyer or a bad prosecutor or a judge who is lenient or harsh. Laws are awfully complicated though, so I have a hard time thinking weapon vs. no weapon doesn't make a difference in terms of sentencing guidelines.
