Have you noticed how a lot of American people don't care when a friendship is one sided, etc. compared to people in other cultures?

Many people that I know and myself included, when we talk about this topic with people that grew up in America or lived here more than one year, how if a friend only or mainly only hits you up when they need something, etc than they aren't a true friend/don't care about you. Many of them respond"You are just insecure," Or "ehh,"" Even though a good amount agree that is fucked up, too many see it as no big deal but when asking people who live in Latin America, Africa, the HUGE majority say that is wrong.
