People of color tend to have a long memory for the greatness of their ancestors and the wrongs done them and a short memory of the misdeeds they did. White people are the exact opposite. Naturally, that is how the world views things.

The crusades are certainly not revisionism.
The Islamic conquests conquered over half of Christendom by that point in time.
The 1st Crusade was launched in response to Sejuk attacks on the Byzantines and attacks on pilgrims.

The rest is a bit exaggerated, but I'll accept the premise.
None the less, I'd highly implore you to study the Islamic conquests (which make up the majority of Muslim holdings today). The Christian world was brutalized by them for centuries before an effective response could be made. Even Spain took 800 years to liberate.
We can question the validity of many of the individual crusades, or actions. Most Christians do. However, labeling it as a defensive war is actually accurate in regards to that period in history.
