Almost every day lately I hear about someone killing themselves , which made me ask this question Just yesterday a 42 year old Dad killed his 2 kids’ and himself a few towns over from me but they didn’t disclose the reason why or they don’t know the reason why because it’s still under investigation, it seems I am hearing about suicides all the time lately. Do you think it’s mainly because of how this society and economy is these days? Everywhere I go , I hear people struggling financially and feeling depressed , even my own life isn’t going so great either , but I am not going to kill myself over it , even though at times I say I am , . I am just talking out my ass 😂 But I can see why some people are doing it , because how do you live a happy life if everything you worked hard for just gets pissed away because of how shitty this economy is? The job market sucks , the costs of things sucks , so many things suck in this world today. the only way to feel happy and content in today’s world is to have a decent paying job or come into a large sum of money just to make ends meet , otherwise you are pretty much screwed. I am in process of selling my home because I can’t afford it anymore after being laid off from my job yet again , I am doing everything I can to land a decent paying job again but it hasn’t been easy whatsoever. It’s like paying the friggin lottery trying to land a decent job these days. I feel like my life is going backwards instead of forward most times. Like WTF is going on in this country. It’s absolutely pathetic that we are living this way.

The only person that I knew who offed himself was because his girlfriend broke up with him and wouldn't go back with him. So sad! And his poor Mom was trying to climb into his casket and was crying and saying "I want to go with him".😔
Back to your question.
Man, there's so many reasons why anyone would feel like that they just couldn't deal with it anymore and just wanted it to stop. Whatever the reason is.
All I know is that people aren't as nice and caring anymore like they used to be. So relationships are harder, the economy does suck big time and people just can't find a good job and afford to live anymore.
The first time I heard about a father lined up his 5 kids along the fence in the backyard and his wife too and shot all of them and then himself and it was because he couldn't pay for his family anymore. This was about 20+ years ago and it made the news.
People say it's the cowards way out but they haven't walked in that person's life either. I don't think it's a cowardly act. I think it takes so much courage to do end it.
People need to start caring about other people again and do it on purpose!
The economy is an excuse, not a reason. Suicide is the result of mental illness more or less. If someone is inclined to kill themselves, there is little you can say or do to stop them. That is, by definition, an unreasonable position. Similarly, if someone is not included to suicide, there’s little or nothing that you can say or do to convince them to kill themselves.
You simply can’t reason someone out of a position that they didn’t use reason to get into.
A woman in Texas killed her young daughter because she lost a custody dispute. I defy you to rationalize that. It’s irrational. It’s unreasonable.
In my opinion, it’s only tragic because of the children. Adults should absolutely have complete autonomy over their own lives and livelihoods. Killing kids though? People are just disgusting.
The problem is the American attitude. You're raised to think that with a little hard work you can achieve anything and have a great life. You're taught self reliance is every and win or lose is entirely up to you.
The problem is so much of life is out of your control. No matter how hard you work you cab lose your job because someone in an office in another city wants to make a little extra profit. You can only take what jobs are available locally, you have no control over shop or gas prices. Yet you're made to feel it's your fault if things aren't great.
I think that you are mistaken about what people are taught in contrast with their expectations. Literally NO sensible person has ever suggested that “a litter hard work” will result in a “great life”. You MIGHT get lucky and that could be the result. However, in reality, life IS competition. If you work a “little hard”, then the next person only has to work moderately harder. Then who do you think gets the better lifestyle? More often than not, the person who works harder achieves the more desirable results. Losers who want to blame everyone but themselves will point to anomalies like nepotism, or some other “unfair” thing that is outside of their control. But more often than not, your failures are your own. Especially at the lowest rung of the ladder. It is wildly narcissistic to believe that ANYONE is conspiring against your barely-qualified-for-minimum-wage ass. For what? Your minimum wage job and sh*tty apartment? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Does “sh*t happen”? Absolutely, but only losers let it define them and ruin their whole life. Everyone else adapts and overcomes. And THOSE are the people who reap the rewards of a better life.
So you're saying finchie simply isn't working as hard as everyone else
Yay for apathy
OP is talking about the fact that finding a job has become too difficult nowadays, and that most salaries do not allow citizens to live peacefully.
People are not depressed because they don't have a spectacular life; having more jobs and wages aligned with the cost of living is the bare minimum in a modern country, nothing magnificent.
I can see both sides.
Realistically, most people aren't going to be doctors and engineers. And these are the jobs that give a differentiated salary. Most jobs are just in the fairly middle ground / shit salary. At least, that's the job market that I see here.
And then you can say, 'well, you just failed in life'. Which is fair. But it's easy to condemn people for things you excel at, whereas no doubt, you may be wanting in other areas of your life.
The economy is much better than it was just two years ago. The stock market is at near record levels and the GDP is on track to top 5% in 2026. Fidelity investments reported that there are a record number of 401K millionaires and more people are working in America than any other time in history. The suicide rate has been increasing for a long time. I blame social media and how batshit crazy society has gotten.
It has a lot to do about victimhood and lack of personal responsibility.
Honestly I just think it's because people are getting shittier and dumber. People used to work from dusk till dawn, hard manual labor, just so that them and their families wouldn't starve the next winter. But now they're going to kill themselves and their kids over this? Pathetic. I'm sorry that so many kids have parents that are so worthless that they would do something like that.
Yea I agree, but unfortunately mental health issues is something people can’t handle, once your brain is fucked it’s fucked , why mental illness is something that really can’t be explained and not recognized in most cases. You can have a nice conversation with someone and not know they are going to kill themselves shortly after. Why mental health is being researched like crazy
So true. A lot of it just comes from parents handing their kids everything, then the kids grow up not being able to cope with not getting their way. I don't know, that's why I'm glad people are choosing to be single and childfree more and more. Most people aren't good enough to have kids
Didn’t you express support for Lindsay Clancy?
No lmfao
this is sad to know. There was once a magician who was in debt so he fucked up a technique on purpose to die. This I was told anyway.
Yea most suicide comes from mental health issues like depression and stress etc. which sadly there isn’t really any explanation of it , once our brain gets to that point it’s pretty much over. I lost a lot of good friends from mental health issues that ended up killing themselves as well , and sadly there is nothing we can really do to prevent it from happening , my one friend that killed himself I talk to him the day before he killed himself and not once did o think he was suffering from anything , we had a regular conversation like we always had , so when I found out he killed himself , I was in complete shock and in denial because I just talked to him the day before. So again mental health issues some fucked up shit
People are complicated and depressed in bigger societies. Can't begin to believe that a. i is gonna take those jobs over. Says a lot about how people handle their work.
Nice cheery question. I bet you're fun at parties. Analways, to answer your question, it can't be helping much. People top themselves for all sorts of reasons. We'll never know why.
Simples...
Certainly can't be helping.
I have been on this planet for 48 years and I never experienced anything like this in my lifetime until now , I don’t see it getting any better anytime soon. If it was up to me I would get rid of this government and we as people work together to survive because all the government is doing is taking our money and filling their pockets with it and helping other countries instead of helping their own people. Which blows my mind. The government is nothing but crooks and thieves that we tolerated for years. This whole world is focused on money and greed over anything else. I think people are starting to realize what’s even the point of living if they are constantly being shit on. I worked my ass off pretty much my whole life and it’s like now I am losing everything I worked hard for because I can’t land a decent job whatsoever to get my head above water again . I am selling my home because I can’t afford it anymore , unemployment that I paid into is paying me shit as well , my unemployment check barely pays my bills and barely puts food on my mouth , like wtf is happening , everywhere I go people are struggling , it shouldn’t be this way whatsoever, something is definitely wrong and we are just sitting back allowing it to happen to us. If you are financially stable lucky for you , but unfortunately not everyone can say the same thing. The country has gone to hell on a hand basket , I have never witnessed something so pathetic in my lifetime. I feel covid was the start of all this nonsense we are dealing with each day moving forward
I agree that the situation is dire. I can't believe that the man in charge somehow grew his wealth by billions of dollars while the majority of people suffer and barely make ends meet. It is truly sad for those less fortunate right now.
lol. people are killing themselves over moderately higher gas prices?
That’s not the only thing that’s highly priced ,
They were mentally unbalanced anyway.
Having struggled with it myself, I'm not surprised. Sometimes we become overburden.
That has surely been a factor
Absolutely
Yes.
