I doubt it was. People have been all over the place about wars, aid, tariffs and other matters well before the elections. There were rumours months ago this might have happened but now the results speak for themselves. Am i surprised, not really. do i support either side no. Just a neutral observation

Many places in the US don't require proof.

Many states don't require it at voting stations.
Many other nations require it and many use a system where you are automatically enrolled

The US doesn't enroll you.
You must register.
However, you don't have to provide proof when actually voting. Sometimes a name is enough.
This is why many claim illegals are voting.
